An appeal from UW-Extension Chan. Ray Cross

Editor's note: The following email was sent statewide by the head of the University of Wisconsin Extension asking for help in disseminating drought information:

Dear Colleagues:

I need your help. In these challenging drought conditions, we need to get the word out to our fellow residents, whether they live in rural or urban areas, about some very helpful resources available on the web:

Wisconsin Emergency Management: This is a one-stop place for information related to all aspects of the drought.

Farmer To Farmer: At this online marketplace, farmers in short supply of hay, forage, and corn can get help. And Cooperative Extension just created a new feature on the site to help drought-stricken farmers literally move their livestock to greener pastures.

Drought 2012: UW-Extension's own web site, which Chancellor Cross calls, "a comprehensive and incredible resource." Web site users can sign up to get updates.

"Thanks to the support of our county, state, and federal funding partners and our partnerships with the UW campuses, UW-Extension is well-poised to quickly mobilize to respond to the drought conditions. It's at a time like this that we really appreciate all our partners," Cross stated.

"I know many of you are working hard and probably working longer hours to assist your clients, neighbors, family and friends through these trying times. Others of you are working to communicate about the drought through Wisconsin Public Television and Wisconsin Public Radio. Wherever I am in the state, I can just sense that all our hands are on deck to help out with the droughtÂ…and I'm just incredibly proud of all of you."

Thank you for all you're doing.

Sincerely,

Ray Cross

Chancellor

University of Wisconsin Colleges and

University of Wisconsin-Extension
