UW-Parkside Picture: Saluting Vets

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside paused Monday to honor the men and women who have served our country in the U.S. armed forces. A belated noon hour Veteran's Day ceremony in Main Place of Wyllie Hall focused this year on the contributions made by women. The audience heard from both those in uniform like Army Reservist and UW-Parkside nursing student Teri Christianson and those fighting the battle on the home front like student and mother of two Kristine Perez whose Marine husband is currently stationed in Bahrain. Chancellor Debbie Ford said more than 200 UW-Parkside students are vets and she said she has asked her administrative team to see what more the university to do to serve the student soldiers who have served our country. Vet and soon-to-graduate student Jim Lentz served as emcee. The program was sponsored by the Parkside Military Veterans Organization.
