Now through March 7, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Fine Arts Gallery gives you two art exhibitions for the price of none. The exhibitions "Precognition Tests: Paintings by Robert McCann" and "Subsumed Remnants: A Ceramic Installation by Lisa Truax" fill the gallery was motion in entirely different ways.

McCann's crowded urban landscapes burst with activity as figures of all shapes and sizes congregate, populate, and ambulate through the mundane settings?shopping centers, apartment building parking lots, busy parks?where much of city life occurs.

Truax's ceramic pieces cascade from the ceiling like a shower of falling dinner plates and break through the walls.

In February, the E.H. Mathis Gallery and UW-Parkside Foundation Gallery host distinctly different art exhibitions:

Feb. 4, the Mathis displays "Why Abstraction?" shown by Maureen Fritchen, Dan Nielsen, Suellyn Scoon, and Maggie Venn;

Feb. 11, the Foundation Gallery welcomes the ACE Juried Student Art Exhibition (ACE is the UW-Parkside student art club).

Opening reception for all three exhibitions is Feb. 14. Beginning Tuesday, Jan 29, gallery hours will be Mondays 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Tuesdays noon-8 p.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays noon-6 p.m., and Saturday noon-4 p.m. The galleries are closed Fridays and Sundays.

Another highlight of the spring/summer gallery season is the return of the Parkside National Small Print Exhibition. This university tradition graces the Fine Arts Gallery starting April 1 and continuing through July 19.

Admission to all UW-Parkside art exhibitions is free. Patrons are asked to park at the meters prior to 6 p.m. weekdays; Saturday parking is free.
