Spring semester UW-P PD Safety Education Classes

The UW-Parkside Police offer a series of spring semester classes to help you help yourself in case of emergencies. Education Officer Craig Rafferty will supply you with information and ideas on dealing with gun violence, profiling, identity theft, and property crime. All classes begin at 11 a.m. and end at noon, are held in room 112 of Molinaro Hall. They are free and open to students, faculty, staff, and the public.

The schedule:          

• "OUT: Civilian response to Active Shooters:" Helps you recognize potential violence indicators and describes actions to take when confronted with an active shooter.

Feb. 21 and 26, 2013

• Racial Profiling/Police Brutality: Includes a brief review of the history of police brutality and an overview of lessons learned from past incidents; Q&A session follows.

March 12, 21, and 26

• Identity Theft/Property Crimes: Learn to protect yourself from identity theft and explores the newest "phishing" and "pharming" scams.

April 9, 18, and 23

The classes are repeated in May with each running from 11 a.m. to noon and held in Molinaro 112:

May 2: Active shooter

May 7: Police Brutality

May 16: ID theft/property crimes
