REC Center open for weekend exploration
Now through Sunday, Sept. 1, eco-explorers can examine the Root River, or simply float downstream, with help from the REC Center. The Root River Environmental Education Community Center (REC), located at 1301 6th St. in Racine, is open Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
The REC Center offers hourly canoe, kayak, and tandem kayak rentals. A faculty rental rate is also available and group reservations can also be made. To make reservations, call 262-818-4200 or 262-595-2162.
Starting June 13, the UW-Parkside College of Natural and Health Sciences welcomes students ages 7 to 12 years for the Root River Voyagers. Thursdays from 3 to 5 p.m., the REC Center opens its doors to students who want to make exploring the Root River part of their summer.
To become a Voyager, sign up at the REC Center during weekend operating hours or call 262-818-4200. A complete list of Root River Voyagers Environmental Education Program classes will be shown on the university web site Thursday.See you this summer at the REC Center!
