Chili Cook-Off Set For Valentine's Day
by Andrea Simpson
The Parkside Employee Alumni Group (PEAG) has been pretty busy these days. Some of the fruits, well actually flowers, of their labor will be evident this spring when a perennial garden planted this fall near the Admissions Office begins to bloom.

But for now, the group wants to warm your heart for a good cause. PEAG is sponsoring the "Sweetheart (burn) Chili Cook Off" on Valentine's Day in Main Place. Great chili chefs from all over campus will offer their best work to be judged by a panel of chili connoisseurs. The public then will have an opportunity to taste-test these heart-warming (or maybe burning) concoctions for a mere $1 a bowl.
Proceeds from the event will be used to help purchase automatic external defibrillators for our campus. These devices can save the life of someone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.
If you're on campus Friday, Feb. 14, at 11:45 a.m., stop by Main Place, buy and taste some award-winning chili. You'll have fun, a great lunch and help PEAG with a worthwhile project. If you're not on campus, make your lunch plans that day for Main Place.
