. * Qualifying Round (February 9-15 ) The Seventh IOI will be held in The Netherlands from June 26 to July 3, 1995. Some rounds have alternate dates; please contact USACO if your school's schedule has conflicts. Qualifying Round (February 9-15)In USACO's first round, individual students work on a set of four to five problems -- without strict time limits -- and present their solutions to a local contest coordinator (usually a teacher) during the period from February 9-15, 1995.All programs must be written by individual students working alone. This round lets students decide for themselves if they feel they are at the level of programming ability necessary to compete in the next round. In this round, judging is left up to the local coordinator. Each student must select an teacher at his/her school to serve as the local coordinator. Contact USACO if no teacher is available. This person is responsible for running the programs against the test files supplied to see if the output is correct (which must be done during the February 9-15, 1995 period). Any student who can solve two or more of the qualifying round problems may advance to the Competition Round. The results from the Qualifying Round are submitted on disk to the USACO. Competition Round (March 11)The competition round is a supervised, five-hour event administered by the local coordinator on Saturday, March 11, 1995. Monday, March 13, 1995 is reserved for those who cannot program on Saturday and have received permission from USACO. The students' work is returned to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and graded by a team of judges. The source code for the programs must be submitted on an IBM compatible disk or Macintosh disk and must use one of the official languages allowed by IOI (Pascal, C/C++, or Quick Basic). The top 12-16 competitors, as determined by the USACO judges, advance to the final round.Final Round (May 31 - June 6)The final round is an intensive week-long program which ends in the selection of four team members to represent the United States at the 1995 International Olympiad in Informatics. It will be held on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wisconsin. All expenses, including airfare, will be paid for the 16 students selected for the final round. The Seventh IOI (June 26 - July 3)On Sunday, June 25, the team will leave for Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
