John Baker I went to Clark College for two years. My third year was spent at Washington State College in Pullman. I married my high school sweetheart, June Haukaas in 1959. It took me four years to finish college at Portland State College in 1964. Next I went to work for Western Airlines at the Portland International Airport. This lead into management at Western Airlines home offices in Los Angles helping to set up a computer reservation system. In 1972, I was transferred to Passenger Service as an Assistant Manager. I worked in Passenger Service, Ramp and Airfreight in Los Angeles for the next 14 years until my retirement in 2002. June and I raised a family in Los Angeles. We had two girls, Theresa (1963) and Lisa (1967). We bought a home in Los Angeles in 1968 and remained there until my retirement in 2002. We have three grandchildren -- all boys. We enjoy them very much. We have retired to Poway, CA, 30 miles north of San Diego. John

wonderful scenery and the finest of food and beverage we can carry. In
addition to Yves, a key member of my crew the past few years have been

Kathy Bonner/Lee/Tanaka.
In 1956 I attended Lewis and Clark College
and 17 years and three sons later graduated fro University of Hawaii at
Hilo. (That must be some kind of record for earning a Bachelor's) After
26 years of teaching High School sciences and being the Registrar I
retired in 2000. My first husband died in 1975 and I remarried in 1980 so
Ralph and I already have 25 years together. Ralph had a son (10) and a 5
year old daughter and as my 3 sons were off on their own by then we made a
family of four. Now we have 10 grandchildren, 8 of which are college age
themselves or just beyond and two are just starting their school years.
Small town Hawaii, Honoka'a, has been home
for the 25 years and will be for the forseeable future. It is a hard
place to beat. We enjoy our island and go snorkeling every Friday for
tako (octopus). The family relies on us to keep them supplied and so do
friends. We just enjoy the swim and the ocean.
We will not be at the Reunion but you all
will be in my thoughts and I love checking out the bio's.
Sorry, I truly have NO picture that is not 7
or 8 years in the past. If I find one I will send it to you Don. Aloha
and Mahalo,

Connie Brasmer Lemberg I married in 1957 to Cliff Ellenwood Jr. and we had two boys and two girls. In 1963 my Mother was murdered in their home in Fruit Valley, I had just been laid off from Jantzen Knitting Mills a week before. My Mother had been watching our three children so I was home with them at moms death. Four months after moms death my dad died of a broken heart. I have always been thankful to Ken Andrews for his compassion he showed us as we made arrangements for the funerals. Five years later my marriage ended in divorce and I was on my own to raise four children by myself. I dont believe I have cried as much as I did those very lonely years, and I thought for sure that my Savior, Jesus Christ had forsaken me or really wasnt real. I was slowly losing my faith. I met Jack Lemberg through his sister who I worked with at Jantzen. We married in 1968 and because we both were so independent we had a tough time of it. For two years it was hell on earth until I realized that I had left God out of my life and had went my own way. At that point I gave my life back to God to do what ever He wanted to do with it. He changed me and slowly He changed Jack and gave me back a life that is full of joy. Jack & I had a daughter in 1971 and in 1973 Jack adopted my four children making us a family of five. At this moment in our life we now have sixteen grandsons and one granddaughter, our granddaughter was named Lyla after my mother. Our son Mike retired from the Air Force after 20 years and went right to work for Maximus, which is a company that manages government health programs. He is now Vice President. They have two boys and live in Folsom, CA. Our son David has taught chemistry at Prairie High School for the last 16 years and this year he just moved over to Heritage High School in the Evergreen District. They have two boys. Our daughter Cindy is a stay at home mom and she has been home schooling their two sons and one daughter. Our daughter Stephanie is raising their seven boys and managing a photo shop in Wal-Mart. Our daughter Jennie is raising their three boys and is an Arbonne consultant. We have fun as a family and go camping together each summer. We all make it a priority and look forward to that week of hiking and talking about the good old days. I promise to make it to the 55th class reunion if I am still here. Carol (Bryan) Biles My husband, David, and I moved to Marysville, WA in 2002 . We both are retiredI from working as a Marriage and Family Therapist for the past l5 years and Dave from active ministry in the United Methodist Church for 40 years. We are enjoying retirement and, as most of you know from your own experience, are as busy as ever! Dave and I were married in August, l960. We have had two children. Our son, Greg, was born in l964 and died from Muscular Dystrophy in l988. Our daughter, Cindy, was born in l967 and currently lives in Houston, TX. She is single and employed in retail management. We have no grandchildren. I enjoy music and have played and taught piano most of my life. I have been a choral director in both church and community and have sung in various choirs and choral groups over the years. Aside from music, Ive been active in church and in community work. I enjoyed my work as a therapist in several different settings including private practice. Now its time to slow down a bit, enjoy my gardening, quilting, and playing piano out in the community when I can. My husband and I are active in the Kairos prison ministry and have met many wonderful folks in that work. Much to my disappointment, I shall not be able to attend the reunion. I shall be walking in the Susan B. Koman Breast Cancer 3-Day 60-mile event in Seattle. As a four-year breast Cancer survivor, I am thrilled to be able to participate and have been training since February. Over 60 people have contributed nearly $3,700.00 to support my effort! I send my greetings to you
all and would enjoy hearing from my dear friends from those years at
Vancouver High!
Ed Cole After attending Clark College, I enlisted
in the Army in March of 1959 and served until April,1962. While
stationed in Ft Sill I met the girl who would become my wife. Upon
discharge from the Army I lived in Highland Park Ill. where I was born.
I worked for SCM Kleinschmidt in Deerfield , Ill until the summer of
1964, when we moved to Vancouver. |

Wardoane@aol.com In 1960 I received a letter from a friend in the San Francisco Bay Area beckoning me to seek my fortune in California. So I packed my toilet and jumped on the train. I have been here ever since.
I am married to my last wife for almost 34 very good years. We have three
fine children, two boys and a girl and 7 and 1/2 grandchildren. I retired
about three years ago from a national title insurance company where I ran
a small division in San Mateo County, California. I spent about two years
consulting for other title companies because my wife told me she was tired
of cleaning around me.
We moved to Palm Desert, in the Palm Springs area, a year ago May. We live
in a nice home in a gated golf community where we can drive our golf cart
to the course. We both play golf about four days a week. We will
be traveling from August through October because of the heat. All of the
family is of good health and we have a good life. What more could we ask?
Sincerely,
Warren
Randall Ferguson I received an accounting degree (U of WA -1962), practiced as a bean counter (CPA) for several years and then went back to law school (Lewis & Clark 1973). I practiced law in the Vancouver area until I had a mid-life crisis in 1986 and moved to the small island of Pohnpei in Micronesia. I got over that and returned to the practice of law in Vancouver. I am happily married to a CPA (Celeste) and yes, we do count beans together. So far I have three sons and five grandsons. I still enjoy what I do, so I have no plans on retiring. My biggest hobby now is traveling with my wife. My current outlook on life can be summed up in a Woody Allen quote: I dont have anything against death; I just dont want to be there when it happens. Randy

Barbara (Field) Yarborough I am probably the last person to send in a bio for our class reunion....which my husband and I attended in August! I hope I am not too late!!! My family moved to the Oregon coast right after I finished my junior year in high school, so I didn't actually graduate from Vancouver, but I attended school there starting in the second grade, so I really feel as though Vancouver was my childhood home.
During my junior year I attended a Young Life Ski retreat, and made the
wonderful decision to accept Christ as my Savior, and I feel as though
God's mercy rewrote my life.
I attended Oregon State College, majoring in Home Economics, minoring in
Education and Art, however, upon graduation I joined the staff of Campus
Crusade for Christ, where I worked in Austin, Texas at the University of
Texas, then on to Houston, where I worked on the Rice and University of
Houston campuses. While in Houston I met my future husband, Mike who was
attending Rice on an R.O.T.C. scholarship. After he served a year in
the Navy, we were married and moved to San Diego in 1964.
In 1965, we moved to the San Francisco bay area, where we lived until
1974. During this time we had four children, and my husband attended
graduate school at Stanford, where he earned his masters and PhD
degrees in Linear Optics.
Our daughter Jill was born in 1967, our son John in 1968, our son
Jeffrey in 1970 and in 1974, our son James was born.
Our third child, Jeffrey was born 2 months prematurely while I was in
Houston visiting Mikes parents. (Mike was at a conference in New York
at the time.) The doctors gave Jeffre very little hope of survival,
since he was 2 months premature, had a very severely enlarged heart, as
well as having Downs Syndrome. We left our tiny baby in Houston as we
returned to Santa Clara, not knowing whether or not he would live from
day to day. However, Jeffrey turned 35 this April 1, and has survived 2
open heart surgeries and many other health related problems. We have
learned so much about the love of God from having a child like Jeffrey,
and even though it was a hard thing to accept at first, we have counted
it a real joy to have him . About five years ago he developed type one
diabetes, and became a very challenging project! He has to have
insulin 4 times a day, and really couldn't be left alone after that
happened. It was a very difficult period for us, and we decided maybe
we should try to place him in a home, but that just didn't seem like the
best thing to do. I am so grateful to my daughter, Jill, who has taken
Jeffrey to live with her in Phoenix, with her busy family of four
children. This has been a wonderful blessing to us...my husband and I
can actually go out to eat alone, and when we want to, and we see him
often.
After moving to 'Tucson in 1974 we had another son, Joseph, born in
1976, who will be getting married this month.
My life is rich and full, and I feel as though I have been very
blessed. My husband and I have done a lot of traveling ....Israel a few
times, Turkey. Greece, many countries in Europe, etc We have enjoyed
several cruises as well as family vacations to Cannon Beach each summer
with our entire family....which now includes 8 wonderful grandchildren.
I have been involved in the watercolor guild, as well as the Collage
group here, and have had my water colors in various galleries. I am
excited to be starting in a gallery in Aspen, Colorado soon, and I have
also taken up the hobby of quilting.
God has been so good, and I have SO much for which to be thankful. I
will be looking forward to our next reunion......2011!!!!!!!

Paul Freeman
PaulJ_Freeman@msn.com
After graduating from Fort I decided the best
route for me was to work rather than go on to college. After 3 years
of factory work, and a fair amount of nagging from my mother, I decided
that maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to further my education.
Approximately 7 years later and four different colleges I made my mother
happy by receiving my bachelor degree in mathematics at the University of
Washington. I think the last word I heard from her on the subject
of college was "FINALLY". The summer after I received my degree I went to
work for a small consulting firm that offered computer based engineering
type services. I was with them for 6 years, opened my own consulting
business and after 6 years took a crack at operational management in the
beer and wine distribution business. Needless to say, this job provided
the best side benefits of any I've had. My career in the beer and wine
business lasted about 7 years. From there I went to work for a major
freight company in their computer department, spending 3 years there
before going to work for ADP Dealer Services a company offering computer
services for automobile and truck dealerships. I ended an 18 year stint
with them last February and am now gearing up for retirement. Looking
back, my degree in mathematics stood me well - computers, beer, wine,
moving freight and automobiles.
As far as my personal life - I've been married
twice. The first lasted 3 years, no children. The second is going on 38
years with my partner for life Gayle and one son Erik. I feel so blessed
to have these two in my life. Gayle and I are so looking forward to our
retirement years. We've already earmarked exotic and exciting places to
travel and Erik and I have a fishing trip to Alaska planned for next
year. No grandchildren yet as Erik has not found his life partner but we
are holding out hope.
Life's been good so far and I'm looking
forward to the future. I'm planning on hanging in there for at least a 70
year class reunion. Having said that, I think we should do them in 5 year
increments from here on - just in case.
The picture is me in my attire for my
retirement party last February. I thought it appropriate as this is how I
intend to spend my retirement years. PARTY, PARTY, PARTY!!
I am so looking forward to the reunion. See
you there.

Karla (Frick) Dietz WOW, these bio's are fun to read and impressive. I guess my 68 years have mostly been spent enjoying each day and all the people along the way. I can't believe it's been 50 years! My life has been rather busy since graduation - attended Clark College, worked in the library, next worked for telephone company, married at 18, had 3 children, raised horses, sheep and various other critters. Moved from Vancouver to Olympia - worked at the Thurston County Fairgrounds, divorced at 48, met and married Jim two years later, moved to his home in northwest Montana. He manufactures barrels for high-end sporting rifles, I operate the shipping & billing departments, and have been known to do a little work with the lathe, drilling and reaming machines. We raise a few chickens, have 3 cats and a hunting dog. Recently bought the adjoining 9 acres and now our 'spread' consists of 10 acres with a year-around creek, 3 houses (2 are rentals) and a shop. We raise vegetables to sell at local Farmers Markets, go fishing & huntilng when time permits. I love the definite change of seasons, don't miss the rain, never get enough snow (most years it is around 4 feet deep before Christmas). We are active in the local Friends of NRA, attend the Catholic Church in Whitefish. Each summer friends and I try to go on a tent-camping trip to a National Park; Glacier is only 15 minutes from my home. In my spare time I like to sew, knit, crochet, do various other crafts.
Guess I should mention that I have 8
grandchildren - living in Florida, Washington and here in Montana; we
don't see them nearly often enough!
Life is busy and full - each day is a
gift. I would love to hear from old classmates, and I do answer
email, but am slow in responding to letters.
Mary (Grasser) Libby Mary
Ralph Grindland After graduation I worked for Western Electric Co., installing telephone equipment in various offices in Washington and Oregon. I also worked at Lucky Lager brewery and Continental Can Co. I joined the Coast Guard in 1961, spending my entire four years of service at the mouth of the Columbia River. Three years on a 40 motor lifeboat and one year on the Columbia Lightship. I began a long career of Federal service in 1965, working for The Postal Service, Department of Interior, Department of Energy and Department of the Treasury. I was loaned to The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Finance in 1980 and worked in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia until 1987. Because of this posting, my family and I enjoyed lots of travel and were exposed to many cultures. We made seven, round-the-world trips and filled up two passports with immigration stamps. My wife Eileen (Borin) was a 65 graduate from Hudsons Bay. We have 4 children, three sons and one daughter. We now have 8 grandchildren. Two of our sons have their own businesses, one in Vancouver and one in Navarre Beach Florida. Son number three works for Department of Defense as a Fire Department Chief. Our daughter just moved back to Houston and will continue work in the medical field
We now live in a
golfing community in central Florida, about 40 minutes from Disney
World. We have Disney Passports and go there about 20 times per year
with grandchildren and to attend special events. I golf regularly and
if I can stay at my present ability and health level for the next 15
years; I may shoot my age. We met Jesus in 1977 and will walk with him
until he calls.

Richard Hartley Since graduating from Fort Vancouver, I spent two years at Clark College where I played baseball. I transferred to San Jose State University, continued playing baseball and earned my degree in Business Administration. I subsequently went to work for All State Insurance in Salem, Oregon. After a year, I joined an independent insurance firm in Longview, Washington. I sold my insurance practice in 1994 and renewed my interest in the investment business by joining Continental Investors in 1995 as a registered representative. I continue to be very involved in Rotary and work on my golf game regularly. Sue and I celebrate 39 years of marriage this year. She is a University of Puget Sound graduate and works for the Longview School District. Our son Matt (30), a graduate of Washington State University and a former Coug golfer, recently joined Biggs Insurance Services in Vancouver. Our daughter Kris (26), a recreation golfer, graduated from Arizona State University and now teaches 3rd grade within Los Angeles Unified School District. We continue to enjoy our winter and summer trips to Sunriver, and holidays find us all gathered here in Longview. Off-season finds us heading to California to spend time with Kris. Dick
June (Haukaas) Baker After graduating from high school, I went to work at the Jade Palace in Vancouver as a waitress. I soon decided that was not what I wanted to do with my life. Besides 95 cents an hour didn't appeal to me. I made a lot more just picking berries in previous summers. I entered the Providence Hospital School oif Nursing program in Portland, Oregon that Fall. A month after graduating from Nursing School in 1959, I married my high school sweetheart, John Baker. We settled in Portland where John continued his college education while working full time at Western Airlines. I went to work for the Veteran's Administration Hospital as a registered nurse. I remained in their employ for about four years then left to raise a family. Our first, Theresa (1963) and our second, Lisa (1967). They are both married and Theresa has given us three grandsons that are very precious and into several sports in which they do very well. We are proud of them for many reasons. We moved to Los Angeles in the fall of 1966 so that John could take advantage of a promotion that Western Airlines offered to him in management. We took root and lived there for thirty-seven years. I became involved in Girl Scouting, which lasted a total of twelve years and I also became involved in the local elementary school PTA through which I organized and ran a volunteer group of parents from the community to assist teachers in the classroom. The program is still in existence at that school. I received recognition and awards from the L.A. school district and the State of California for my work there. After leaving my volunteer positions, I went back to work as a registered nurse at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica for about five years and then retired. I do keep my license current just in case I might want to do something that would require it. We retired to Poway, CA a "City in the Country," as the town folks call this area. Horses and riders stroll by our home frequently and we have plenty of wild life around also. I do miss my writers group in L.A. though. I had been part of it for eight years and we have published four books of short stories. During those years I have been working on a book of my own. Hope I will eventually get it done and published. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the class reunion. June

Diane (Isaacson) Baylous When I was attending VHS, the school turned 50 years old. At an assembly, a woman came to speak that had been in the first class. I can remember wondering how she could be so very old and still remember - and here we are today! Mike and I celebrated our 50th anniversary last October with a reception then a cruise to the Mexican Riviera. We had a wonderful time. Many family members and friends attended the reception that we hadnt seen in a long time. It is fun to catch up with people and we are looking forward to the reunion. For many years, I supported Mike in his career of dairy farming while raising our family. We moved from the Vancouver area to buy a dairy farm in Montesano, WA. We spent 10 years there, then 2 in Longview and 8 in LaCenter. In 1996 my mother, Marion Isaacson, was ill so we moved in with her to be her caregivers (while working full time!). When she passed away we stayed and now live in the home I lived in during High School. We have 4 wonderful children that all live in the State of Washington, 10 grandchildren (even better). We have recently added 2 great grandchildren to the family, although we havent gotten to see them as much as Id like.) Mike works as yard master for the B.N. Railroad in Longview and I work a couple of mornings a week at a small post office compared to dairy farming this feels like retirement so I dont think well be officially retiring soon. Diane

Truman X. Jones Education: Two years Clark College, one semester San Jose State, put on probation for poor grades and spending way too much time the beach in Santa Cruz. Graduated from San Francisco State in 1965 with a BA in Fine Arts, hey sometimes it takes opening a few doors before you find the right one. The Art Department and I got along just fine. Job History: Worked on and off for 17 years in the optical field fitting contact lenses. Took off my white coat and tie in 1978 and moved to the Sierra Foothills to focus on my creative endeavors, dabbling in various agricultural pursuits and spending as much time as possible swimming in the Rubicon and North Fork of the American Rivers. And then, back to some form of productive work, renovating several commercial properties in San Francisco, moving on to Healdsburg, Ca., on 25 acres overlooking Dry Creek Valley. More dabbling, a divorce, on to Portland, OR and renovating a great 4 unit plus loft building on NW Iriving St just off 23rd ave. Timing. Love it. And on to Santa Fe, NM with my "Z" Babe known in a previous life as Judy Copeland. More renovations, no dabbling, guess I'm finally growing up - - but then again? Prospects - Pastimes: "Z" and I spend 2 months a year in Mexico in Vallarta and in a small fishing village Sayulita, 45 miles North of Vallarta. We stay with our great, tried and true friends Sam Bradley and his wife Eileen in their wonderful casa on the hill over looking the plaza and the ocean. When we're not traveling I spend 6-7 hours a day on my jewelry designs and illuminated shrines. Music, jazz and blues keep me centered especially when I'm working in photo shop and getting brain deep in digital photography. I pretty much love it all.

Stickers: "If you're not pretty close to the edge you're taking up too
much room." ---and--- "Unfuck yourself." seems to sum it up, at least
for me. |
