Thanksgiving Testing

Vaccination Information

UW-Parkside and our Student Health Center are partnering with the University of Wisconsin System and state health providers to provide vaccines in accordance with state guidelines to faculty and staff as a way to combat the COVID-19 global pandemic.  This is an evolving process and we are still in the planning stages, but we are excited to be a part of the solution to the pandemic that has impacted our Parkside community since early 2020.

Please note that if you have been fully vaccinated, at this time, you will still need to get tested when coming to campus.

Dear Campus Community,

UW System President Tommy Thompson recently announced changes to the COVID-19 testing requirements. Specifically, he discussed the opportunity to be exempt from regular testing with the confirmation of the COVID-19 vaccination protocols – through either the receipt of two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, OR the receipt of one dose of the Johnson & Johnson AND completion of the two-week post vaccination period.

Testing will continue at UW-Parkside

Given the increase in COVID-19 cases in our surrounding communities, county health officials are indicating that “rigorous test and trace programs [are] advised.” In light of this, weekly testing for residential students and bi-weekly testing for commuters and employees coming to campus will continue through the end of the spring term (May 14th).

Vaccines & Verification

We also encouraging all students and employees who haven’t scheduled a COVID-19 vaccine to visit the Ranger Restart Vaccination web page for vaccine information, including clinic locations across the community.

Finally, to help university and public health officials track vaccinations, UW-Parkside has upgraded our MyChart system to accommodate the secure uploading and storage of your COVID-19 vaccination documentation. The MyChart upgrade will allow students and employees to upload a copy of their COVID-19 vaccination card or upload documentation of their Wisconsin Immunization Registration (WIR)  into the system for verification.

You can access the instructions to upload your vaccination information to MyChart via UW-Parkside’s Vaccination Record web page. If you are using the WIR website, please click on the “Public Immunization Record Access” section on the main page to access your immunization information.

Thank you for your patience as we implement these new procedures, and for your continued cooperation in our efforts to keep our campus community safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Dear Colleagues:

As we make progress toward vaccinating all our faculty, staff, and students, we wanted to send these additional reminders to our UW-Parkside community.

Faculty & Staff Vaccinations

We continue to collaborate with Froedtert South on vaccinations for faculty and staff at their Pleasant Prairie Hospital (9555 76th St., Pleasant Prairie). Please remember this opportunity is only for employees and is not transferable.  If you are interested in receiving the vaccine, please use the link below to be added to a list to be contacted for an appointment.

Appointment

This link will take you to a UW-Parkside BP Logix form that will collect basic information and add you to a list that will be sent to Froedtert South.  You will not be signing up for a specific appointment time.  A staff member from Froedtert South will contact you to set up the actual appointment. Availability of the vaccine supply may affect the timing of the contact from Froedtert South.  You may also call 262-671-7468 for questions related to an existing appointment.

Vaccinations to All Residents

In addition, vaccination sites have been established throughout Racine and Kenosha counties that are available to all residents. Please visit our COVID vaccination web page for the list of available vaccination sites. Please note you may be asked to provide health insurance and other additional information.

Testing continues on campus

While that is good vaccination news, we still are asking all faculty, staff, and students to continue to get tested, wear our masks, and keep our distance.  Even if you have received one or both vaccination doses, we want everyone to continue to get tested and follow COVID-19 safety protocols.

Please visit our COVID testing web page for more information.

As always, your health and safety remain our top priority.  Thank you for all that your doing to help us reduce the impact of this pandemic on our Parkside community!

Dear Colleagues:

In collaboration with Froedtert South, we are updating the vaccination sign-up process for UW-Parkside faculty and staff.  Again, we apologize to those of you who had appointments canceled last week or attempted to register for an appointment and were unable.  Refer to the email confirming your appointment if you need to review, edit, or reconfirm your appointment.  You may also call 262-671-7468 for questions related to an existing appointment.

We are still anticipating employees working in higher education will be eligible to receive the vaccine March 1.  The Froedtert South Medical Group has offered to vaccinate our faculty and staff at their Pleasant Prairie Hospital (9555 76th Street, Pleasant Prairie, WI).

Please understand that this opportunity is only for employees and is not transferable.  If you are interested in receiving the vaccine, please use the link below to be added to a list to be contacted for an appointment.

Availability of the vaccine supply may affect the timing of the contact from Froedtert South.

UW-Parkside is allowing staff paid time off during their regular work schedule for an appointment.  We estimate you will need approximately one and a half hours for the appointment including travel time.  Once scheduled, please make sure that you inform your manager of your scheduled date and time.

There will be no charge for the vaccine itself; however, there will be a charge for the administration of the vaccine. It is our understanding that Medicare, Medicaid, and most insurance companies will cover the administrative charge associated with the COVID-19 vaccine.  However, we suggest that you call your insurance company to verify coverage.

Please know that your health and safety continue to remain our top priority. We are hopeful that the vaccine will be a lifesaving turning point in the fight against COVID-19.

Thank you!
