Welcome to #RangerNation! We are excited to help you start your collegiate career off on the right foot. All new students are required to attend a virtual course registration day and complete online orientation unless otherwise noted.  

More information on your specific type of program can be found below.

VIRTUAL COURSE REGISTRATION & ORIENTATION FOR SUMMER/FALL 2021

Information below is for students starting in the Summer/Fall 2021 term only.
 

All incoming first year students will have to complete Online Orientation as well as attend a Virtual Course Registration Day. New Student Services will also host optional Parkside Preview Days. Please read more about each program below. You can register for Virtual Course Registration and Parkside Preview by scrolling below to the "Register Now" button.

Online Orientation

Beginning May 3, all incoming first year students will receive access to the Online Orientation platform. The Online Orientation will cover the following topics:

  • Transitioning to College
  • Becoming a Learner
  • Student Life (including Residence Life, Dining, and Activities) 
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Title IX and Campus Safety 
  • Paying for College
  • Student Health, Counseling, and Disability Services 
  • Advising and Registering for Classes

Online Orientation must be completed no later than three days prior to their Virtual Course Registration day.

Virtual Course Registration 

  • First Year students will need to sign up for a Virtual Course Registration Date to meet with an advisor to select courses for the fall semester. Students will also need to complete the Online Orientation program as mentioned above.

Virtual Course Registration Dates & Schedule

  • You will be asked to attend a University Welcome and Advising Appointment between 8:30am - 4:00pm. Your specific welcome and advising time will be emailed to your Ranger Mail account six business days in advance of your Virtual Course Registration date. Until you receive your specific welcome and advising times, we ask that you hold the day from 8:30am - 4:00pm.
  • Students can pick from the following dates to attend their Virtual Course Registration Day:
    • June 15
    • June 17
    • June 23
    • June 29
    • July 13
    • July 15
    • July 21
    • July 27
    • July 29

Virtual Orientation Cost
$125
The Orientation & Course Placement fee is charged to the student's SOLAR account and is part of the $260 New Student Fee.

Cancellation, Reschedule & No-Show
Rescheduling to a different Orientation session or cancelling a reservation may be done without a fee until 8 am central time 3 business days before the date of your session.

Due to costs incurred by New Student Services, a $25 fee is assessed to students or guests who change their date or cancel later than 8 am central time 3 business days prior to their scheduled session or do not show up for their scheduled Orientation session.

Changes/updates can be made by logging back into the database or by emailingorientation@uwp.edu.

Parkside Preview Days

Throughout the month of August, students will have the option to attend a Parkside Preview Day. Our Parkside Preview Days will include campus tours, student panels, a resouce fair, and more information on acclimating to college life. Registration for these optional On-Campus Event Days will open March 1. On-Campus Eent Days will be held on the following dates:

  • August 3
  • August 5
  • August 10
  • August 11
  • Augst 12
  • August 17
  • August 25

All incoming transfer students will have to complete Online Orientation before being able to schedule an advising appointment. Please read more about Online Orientation below.

Transfer Student Online Orientation
Beginning February 22 (Summer admits) & March 29 (Fall admits) transfer students will be added to the Canvas course, "Parkside Online Orientation."

How to Access Transfer Online Orientation

  1. Login to your Ranger Mail Account.
  2. You will see an email from University of Wisconsin Canvas with the subject, "Course Invitation". Open the email and click the link that reads, "Get Started". This will have you login to your Canvas account.
  3. Once you have logged in you will be taken to the home page of the Online Orientation Course and will see the modules to complete.
  4. Complete all required sections. Once you have completed the final quiz you will eligible to meet with an academic advisor to select your courses. 

*We encourage your early completion of the Online Orientation in order to meet with an advisor in a timely manner.

If you are an Adult Learner (age 25+), a Re-Entry Transfer or Re-Admit student that has been gone for more than five academic years or a Veteran, you will be placed in the Parkside Online Orientation course on Canvas along with our Transfer students. Students will have to complete Online Orientation before being able to schedule an advising appointment. Please read more about Online Orientation below.

Early College Credit Virtual Course Registration
High School students who have been approved to participate in the Early College Credit program.

Date for Students starting in Spring 2021

  • August 20

This is the only Virtual Course Registration date for the Early College Credit program.  You must attend this Virtual Course Registration date if you will be participating. 

Times
8:30 am-12 pm

You will be required to attend a University Welcome and Advising appointment between 8:30am - 12pm. Course Placement

Any incoming student that has applied and been accepted to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside to participate in the Early College Credit Program will be placed into their courses based on the guidelines set forth on the Placement Test website. 

Cost
There is no cost to attend Virtual Course Registration or to take the Placement Test.  

Failure to Attend
Failure to attend will result in being unable to participate in the Early College Credit Program during Fall 2021.

International Student Orientation

Graduate, Exchange, and Degree Seeking International Students.

ORIENTATION DATE(S)
*Will be determed by March 1, 2021.

All International Students will be asked to complete an Online Orientation prior to attending the in person sessions. Please check your Ranger Mail for more information.

After you have made your flight/arrival arrangements, please share that information with International Student Services.

PLACEMENT TESTING DATE
As Needed| Online

Students that are required to take the Math and English Placement Tests will be notified. All undergraduate degree seeking students and students who DO NOT have transferable Math or English credits will be required to take Placement Testing.  Placement Testing can be done online, register here. You can take the exam on your own time and at your own pace. Please note you must have a secure internet connection.
