COURSE REGISTRATION & ORIENTATION FOR WINTERIM/SPRING 2022

Information below is for students starting in the Winterim/Spring 2022 term only. Information for future terms will be available at a later date.
 

All incoming first year students will have to complete Online Orientation as well as attend a Parkside Preview Day. Please read more about each program below. You can register for your Parkside Preview by scrolling below to the "Register Now" button. 

Online Orientation (click here to access)

All first year students are required to complete Online Orientation prior to their Parkside Preview Day. You will need your Parkside creditenials to login. 

The Online Orientation will cover the following topics:

  • Transitioning to College
  • Becoming a Learner
  • Student Life (including Residence Life, Dining, and Activities) 
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Title IX and Campus Safety 
  • Paying for College
  • Student Health, Counseling, and Disability Services 
  • Advising and Registering for Classes

Online Orientation must be completed no later than three days prior to their Parkside Preview Day. 

Parkside Preview Day

All incoming first year students are required to attend a Parkside Preview Day. During a Parkside Preview Day students will have the opportunity to register for classes, go on a campus tour, attend various educational sessions, and meet campus departments at the resource fair. 

  • The winterim/spring Parkside Preview Day will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. The day will run from 9:00am - 3:30pm. Schedules will be available once registration opens on November 3, 2021.
  • The cost of online orientation and Parkside Preview Day is $125 and a part of the $260 New Student Fee that will be charged to the student's SOLAR account as part of their first tuition bill.

All incoming transfer students will have to complete Online Orientation before being able to schedule an advising appointment. New Student Services will also host optional Parkside Preview Day. Please read more about each program below. 

Transfer Student Online Orientation
Beginning October 27, 2021 transfer students will be added to the Canvas course, "Parkside Online Orientation."

How to Access Transfer Online Orientation

  1. Login to your Ranger Mail Account.
  2. You will see an email from University of Wisconsin Canvas with the subject, "Course Invitation". Open the email and click the link that reads, "Get Started". This will have you login to your Canvas account.
  3. Once you have logged in you will be taken to the home page of the Online Orientation Course and will see the modules to complete.
  4. Complete all required sections. Please see the note about advising:
    1. Those students that complete the online orientation final quiz prior to 12:01am on January 19, 2022 will have an individual appointment with their advsior. Once your online orientation is complete you will receive an email from the Advising and Career Center to schedule your advising appointment. 
    2. Those students that complete the online orientation final quiz after 12:01am on January 19, 2022 will meet with their advisor during the Transfer Advising Day on January 27, 2022 . This will be a virtual appointment and you will not need to come to campus. We ask that you hold the day from 9:00am - 4:00pm so that you are available for an advising appointment. You will receive an email three business days prior to the Transfer Advising Day with your individual advising time and meeting link to join your advsior virtually for your appointment. 

  • This is a virtual program. Students must have a secure internet connection and access to a laptop, desktop computer, or smart phone to complete the online orientation. 
  • The cost of the online orientation is $125 and part of the $260 New Student Fee that will be charged to the student's SOLAR account as part of their first tuition bill. 

Parkside Preview Days

In January, transfer students will have the option to attend a Parkside Preview Day. Our Parkside Preview Days will include campus tours, student panels, a resource fair, and more information on acclimating to UW-Parkside. Parkside Preview Days will be held from 8:30am - 3:30pm on the following dates:

To register for a Parkside Preview Day, please email orientation@uwp.edu with the following information:

  • First and last name
  • Name and contact information for an emergency contact
  • Please answer the following questions:
    • Do you have any dietary restrictions? If so, please explain.
    • Do you have any medical conditions we should know about for the day? If so, please explain.
    • Do you require any accommodations for the day? If so, please explain. 
  • Will you be bringing a guest? (Students are allowed to bring one guest). If bringing a guest, please answer the following questions:
    • Name and email address of guest
    • Does this guest have any dietary restrictions? If so, please explain.
    • Does this guest have any medical conditions we should be aware of for the day? If so, please explain.
    • Does this guest require any accommodations for the day? If so, please explain.

Early College Credit Virtual Course Registration
High School students who have been approved to participate in the Early College Credit program.

Date for Students starting in Spring 2022

  • January 21, 2022

This is the only Virtual Course Registration date for the Early College Credit program.  You must attend this Virtual Course Registration date if you will be participating. 

Times
8:30 am-12 pm

You will be required to attend a University Welcome and Advising appointment between 8:30am - 12pm. You will be emailed a specific welcome and advising time to your Ranger Mail account six business days in advance of your Virtual Course Registration date. Until you receive your specific welcome and advising times, we ask that you hold the day from 8:30am-12pm.

Course Placement

Any incoming student that has applied and been accepted to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside to participate in the Early College Credit Program will be placed into their courses based on the guidelines set forth on the Placement Test website. 

Cost
There is no cost to attend Virtual Course Registration or to take the Placement Test.  

Failure to Attend
Failure to attend will result in being unable to participate in the Early College Credit Program during Spring 2022.

International Student Orientation

Graduate, Exchange, and Degree Seeking International Students.

ORIENTATION DATE(S)
Information on Orientation Dates can be found on the International Student Services website. 

All International Students will be asked to complete an Online Orientation prior to attending the in person sessions. Please check your Ranger Mail for more information.

After you have made your flight/arrival arrangements, please share that information with International Student Services.

PLACEMENT TESTING DATE
As Needed| Online

Students that are required to take the Math and English Placement Tests will be notified. All undergraduate degree seeking students and students who DO NOT have transferable Math or English credits will be required to take Placement Testing.  Placement Testing can be done online, register here. You can take the exam on your own time and at your own pace. Please note you must have a secure internet connection.
