SUMMARY:GALLERIES: Dennis Bayuzick Retrospective Exhibition | Celebrating a
	Legacy of Artistry and Education
LOCATION:The Rita\, The Emile H. Mathis Gallery
DESCRIPTION:The University of Wisconsin-Parkside is proud to present a retrospective
exhibition of the late Dennis Bayuzick’s artwork at the Mathis Gallery
within The Rita Tallent Picken Regional Center for Arts and Humanities
(RITA). The exhibition will run from June 4 through August 2\, 2024\,
with an opening reception on Friday\, June 7\, from 4-6 pm. This special
event is an opportunity for the community to honor Bayuzick’s enduring
impact as an artist and educator. Dennis\n\nBayuzick\, a cherished
member of the UW-Parkside Art Department\, devoted over 35 years to
teaching painting\, 2-D design\, and drawing. His legacy extends beyond
the classroom\, where he mentored numerous students\, guiding them
toward personal and disciplined creativity. Bayuzick's profound
influence is evident in the many successful artists and art educators he
helped cultivate. As the longtime coordinator of Art Education at
UW-Parkside\, Bayuzick supervised student teachers in local public
schools\, aiding over 70 students in achieving K-12 certification in
Art. His dedication to art education has resulted in a new generation of
talented educators who continue to inspire students across the United
States.\n\nBayuzick’s contributions to the arts were not confined to
teaching. He was instrumental in organizing and hosting biennial high
school art invitational shows and local art teacher exhibits at
UW-Parkside\, fostering community-university relations and enhancing the
visibility of young artists. His efforts brought high school students to
campus\, giving them the unique opportunity to see their work displayed
in a professional gallery setting. The retrospective exhibition will
showcase Bayuzick's unique artistic vision\, characterized by the
symbolic potential of still-life arrangements and a preference for the
purple side of the color spectrum. His airbrush paintings\, which have
garnered national recognition and numerous awards\, are included in the
exhibit. Bayuzick’s works have been featured in Airbrush Action magazine
and displayed at the Joy Horwitz Gallery in Chicago.\n\nVisitors to the
exhibition are invited to purchase available artwork by donation\, with
payments accepted online or by check. All proceeds will support the
UW-Parkside Art Department\, ensuring that Bayuzick’s legacy continues
to inspire future generations of artists.\n\nBayuzick\, who passed away
on December 8\, 2022\, at the age of 76\, left an indelible mark on the
UW-Parkside community and the broader world of art education. His life
and work will be celebrated through this retrospective\, offering a
chance for reflection and appreciation of his immense contributions. We
invite the community to join us at the Mathis Gallery from June 4 to
August 2 to experience the rich legacy of Dennis Bayuzick. The opening
reception on June 7 will be a moment to gather\, reflect\, and celebrate
the life of a beloved artist\, teacher\, and friend.\n\nFor more
information\, please visit the Mathis Gallery website or contact the
