The University of Wisconsin-Parkside will host the Tim Bell Tribute Concert on Tuesday, Dec. 5 in the Main Stage Theatre.  The program will include Bell’s Alumni of Parkside Big Band and will run approximately 90 minutes without an intermission.  There will also be a pre-concert reception for friends and family of Bell. The UW-Parkside Jazz Ensemble will kick off the concert and will feature several guest performers including Russ Johnson. The UW-Parkside Reunion Big Band, led by Jack Plovanich, will also perform.

The reception will run from 6 –7 p.m. The Concert will run from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Bell was a well-respected and much-loved musician in the Kenosha and Racine areas as well as a music professor at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside from 1975 to 2009 where he specialized in jazz.

Bell became the Director of Jazz Studies at UW-Parkside in 1975. Beginning in 1978, the UW-Parkside Jazz Ensemble became a perennial favorite at the Elmhurst Jazz Festival and consistently won outstanding band and soloist honors. In 1979, Professor Bell was named Outstanding Teacher of the Year at UW-Parkside. He also received the University of Wisconsin Regents Award for teaching excellence in 1993.

Professor Bell had extensive professional experience as a classical clarinetist and woodwind doubler. He performed with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Skylight Opera, Milwaukee Ballet, touring productions of Broadway shows, and prominent national entertainment headliners including Burt Bacharach, Henry Mancini, Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, Stan Kenton, Bob Hope, Jack Benny, Milton Berle, Rita Moreno, Tom Jones, Jerry Lewis, Tom Bosley, Toni Tennille and Sonny and Cher.
