Army ROTC Leadership Lab
The UW-Parkside Army ROTC (AROTC) program, led by the host school Marquette University AROTC Golden Eagle Battalion, will conduct a Leadership Lab training exercise. This is part of training for a new RECONDO (reconnaissance-commando) team. The cadet RECONDO team will arrive to campus on up to four Army Black Hawk UH/HH-60 tactical transport helicopters traveling from Milwaukee and conduct training in the wooded area to the north of the Dannehl Cross Country course.
The Black Hawk helicopters are scheduled to arrive and land on campus at approximately 9:20 a.m. The helicopters will land on the inside of the athletic track which is southeast of the Sports & Activity Center. The Army will take several pre-selected guests on the helicopters to get an aerial view of the training being conducted on campus and will land again in the middle of the track.
The training exercises may use various training implements including uniforms, nonfunctional training rifles (blue plastic), non-functional training claymore mines, nonfunctional training hand grenades, training dummies, a rope bridge, and other gear. None of the training implements use live ammunition or are capable of functioning as a weapon.
All areas used for training will have signs posted to alert the public, and the UW-Parkside Police Department has notified local law enforcement agencies of the training.
The event is open to the campus community and the general public. All spectators must stay on the outside of the track for the event.
