Position Title: Academic Advisor: Success Coach

Reports To: The Success Coach will report to the Director of Academic Support & Success Coaching; Parkside Academic Resource Center

Pay Range: $44,000 - $50,000


Essential Job Functions

The Success Coach for the Callahan Scholars Program will develop and implement a student success program for identified students. The Callahan Scholars Program is part of a University-wide student development initiative focused on increasing matriculation, retention, and graduation rates of underrepresented students. The Success Coach will provide one-on-one and group support sessions aimed at retaining and ultimately graduating the students in the program. The Success Coach will serve as a referral agent for campus and community resources and will use the EAB Navigate platform to communicate with and send reminders of important university deadlines to the students. The Success Coach will also monitor students’ participation in required campus engagement opportunities and community service hours. Regular program outcome reports will be submitted to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs & Enrollment Services.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Connect with all assigned students within specified timeframes to introduce the success coaching process and establish a proactive and supportive wrap around relationship.
  • Holds regular one-on-one meetings with program participants and facilitates regular academic success workshops.
  • Monitors students’ participation in required campus engagement opportunities and community service hours.
  • Participate in New Student Orientations, Parkside Preview Days, and other campus events.
  • Maintain up-to-date information on campus and local community resources available to assist students with academic, financial, and personal issues. 
  • Must be willing to work some evenings
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education (Master’s preferred)
  • At least 1-3 years of experience in counseling, advising, coaching, or similar role (higher education setting preferred; can include graduate work).
