The Health, Exercise Science and Sport Management department at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for a full time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sport Management to begin starting the 2014-2015 academic year.



  • Earned terminal degree (Ph.D, Ed.D, J.D. permissible) with specialization in the sport management field, requiredby the time of appointment. All but Dissertation (A.B.D.) status will be considered for a one-year appointment as a Lecturer with potential conversion to tenure track Assistant Professor if terminal degree is completed by June 2014
  • Primary focus should be in the area of sport management with demonstrated ability to teach courses such as facility design and management, sport event management, sport as it relates to society and introduction to health, exercises science and sport management
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain an active research agenda; service to the profession, campus, and community
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching, high expectations of undergraduate education and student professionalism


  • Evidence of ability to teach additional courses related area of the broad field of sport mangement, such as athletic fundraining and advanced sport managment
  • Ability to develop potential intern/fieldwork placement sites
  • Experience in the sport management industry
  • Experience in advising undergraduate students in the field of Sport Management or related fields
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibilities include: teaching, scholarly research activity, advising undergraduate students majoring in Sport Management, supervising fieldwork/internship placements, and participating in departmental/campus/community/professional service.

ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-PARKSIDE: The University of Wisconsin-Parkside is a comprehensive campus of the University of Wisconsin System with approximately 4800 students, 120 faculty, and 70 instructional academic staff offering 33 undergraduate majors and 3 master's degrees in 22 academic departments.
