Position Title: Communications Specialist (Communications and Outreach Coordinator)
Employment Type: Full time, Academic Staff, Salaried
Reports To: The Communications Specialist will report to the Director of Professional and Continuing Education (PCE) and will be supervised by the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) Program Director.
Full Time Pay Range: Starting at $40,000 annualized, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The Communication and Outreach Coordinator is a full-time shared position that supports Professional and Continuing Education (PCE) and the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) at UW-Parkside. PCE provides a wide spectrum of programming on the lifelong continuum of learning. The primary focus is to reach adult learners who are interested in developing new skills, earning a credential, or completing a degree. The EOC is a PCE program that is funded through a U.S. Department of Education TRIO grant with the of promoting secondary and post-secondary degree completion for qualifying individuals in the region, prioritizing low-income, first-generation, minority, and veteran adults.
The Communication and Outreach Coordinator plays a pivotal role in developing and implementing effective communication strategies and outreach initiatives for PCE/EOC programs. They are responsible for promoting programs, events, and conducting outreach to various stakeholders, including the public, media outlets, partner organizations, and potentially donors. The Communication and Outreach Coordinator utilizes a combination of digital platforms, traditional media, and community engagement tactics to maximize the organization's reach and impact.
Some evenings and weekends may be required in the course of job duties, and the opportunity for a flexible work schedule may be available.

Essential Job Functions
- Identify and engage with community groups, organizations, and stakeholders to build partnerships and represent the organization at community meetings, conferences, and public forums.
- Create compelling and engaging content across multiple platforms, including websites, social media, newsletters, press releases, and marketing collateral.
- Provide Spanish translation services as needed on marketing materials and in personal interactions.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to coordinate and support workshops that promote college readiness, financial literacy, and career-building skills for program participants.
- Provide project management and execution of communications programs, initiatives, and tactical plans.
- Provide customer service and work with participants as needed to support the EOC mission.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of and outreach activities and the effectiveness of campaigns by using key performance indicators (KPIs), i.e. website analytics, social media engagement, media coverage, and other relevant metrics.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field from an accredited college or university
- At least one year of customer service experience
- Bilingual in English and Spanish

- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for diverse audiences
