The University of Wisconsin-Parkside is proud to offer the graduate assistant – athletics administrative positions for the 2024-25 academic year. These graduate assistants will gain valuable experience in Wisconsin’s NCAA Division II athletics department.
The successful candidates will work a 10-month appointment for the 2024-25 academic year with the opportunity for renewal of a second year 12-month appointment. Each graduate assistant will receive a full tuition waiver and an annual stipend of $9,000, paid over the duration of the appointment. These positions will remain open until filled. Anticipated start date for the positions will be August 1, with the potential for a mutually-agreed upon earlier start date and summer employment.
The coaching graduate assistants will also assist with the operations of the Sports & Activity Center and Wellness Center functions. To be eligible, students must be admitted to the in-person Master of Sport Management Program (MSSM) at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Appointments are contingent upon maintenance of minimum credit requirements and good standing in the MSSM program.

Essential Job Functions
FACILITIES AND OPERATIONS
- The facilities and operations graduate assistant will report directly to the Associate AD for Facilities and Capital Projects.
- Assist with day-to-day equipment/issue room operations, including working assigned hours.
- Assist with maintenance and upkeep of athletics and recreation facilities and grounds.
- Coordinate laundry cleaning, distribution, and chemical inventory for all sports programs.
- Assist with facility set up and takedown for Parkside and external events.
- Serve as the facility supervisor for Sports & Activity Center, assigned home events and external rentals.
- Assist with scheduling of facilities for sports competitions and practices, internal and external rentals, intramurals, campus recreation, and University sanctioned events.
- Become familiar with Event Management System (EMS) and Microsoft Outlook Calendar.
EXTERNAL OPERATIONS
- The external operations graduate assistant will work in conjunction with the Assistant AD for Strategic Marketing and Communications and the Athletics Partnerships & Development Lead with duties including but not limited to assisting with:
- Solicit new business for partnership program and assist with renewals of existing partners.
- Lead the activation, fulfillment and tracking of partnerships inventory and assets.
- Assist with development efforts including the Ranger Impact Fund Giving Drive and Parkside Day
- Execute and plan fundraising and engagement events including the Ranger Impact Open and other alumni days.
- Create strategic marketing and promotional plans
- Direct game entertainment including script writing and music.
- Oversight of our kids club and mascot program
- Assist with new ticket sales and group sales efforts.
- Assist with activating our premium seating.
- Knowledgeable of graphic design skills.
EVENT SERVICES
- The event services graduate assistant will report directly to the Assistant AD for Event Services with duties including but not limited to:
- Direct gameday operations including pre and post event operations for select home events.
- Manage the ticket operations efforts on gameday.
- Assist with managing the auxiliary units within Athletics including but not limited to concessions, and merchandise store.
- Assist with facility set up and takedown for Parkside and external events.
- Serve as the facility supervisor for select ports & Activity Center, assigned home events and external rentals.
- Assist with scheduling of facilities for sports competitions and practices, internal and external rentals, intramurals, campus recreation, and University sanctioned events.
- Act as a liaison for officials, visiting teams, and external rentals.
- Become familiar with Event Management System (EMS) and Microsoft Outlook Calendar.
ATHLETICS ADMINISTRATION & STUDENT-ATHLETE SUCCESS
- The athletics administration & student-athlete success graduate assistant will report directly to the Deputy AD with duties including but not limited to:
- Oversee the administrative tasks and office duties for the athletics and HKSM academic department working closely with staff, coaches, and faculty.
- Assist with NCAA compliance fulfillment and educational efforts.
- Handle processing of NIL’s.
- Assist with the athletics certification process.
- Develop and activate student-athlete development programming
- Assist with student-athlete mental health and wellness efforts.
- Work closely with RSAAC.
- Other duties assigned by the HKSM department.
STRENGTH & CONDITIONING
- The strength and conditioning graduate assistant will report directly to the Director of Strength & Conditioning with duties including but not limited to:
- Implements and monitors safe and effective strength and conditioning programs to improve physical performance for all student-athletes.
- Design training strategies for both injury prevention and to improve sport specific performance.
- Instructs, educates, and supervises all student-athletes regarding proper weight training and flexibility techniques.
- Helps develop and coordinate the schedules of student-athletes while in the weight room.
- Maintains consistent communication with coaches
- Provides weight room and wellness center coverage at select times.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree.
-
Experience as a student-athlete, student worker or intern in college athletics, high school, professional sports or relevant equivalent experience.
Preferred:
- Relevant experience in the area of marketing, sales, facilities, administration, event management, or strength and conditioning.
- Demonstrate the ability to be strategically organized and think innovatively.
