The University of Wisconsin-Parkside seeks applicants for two (2) Power Plant Operator Senior positions in the Facilities Management Center.

Responsibilities: These positions are in a large and highly complex Heating & Chilling Plant. Under the general supervision of the Power Plant Superintendent, the Power Plant Operator-Senior is solely responsible for the following: total operation and maintenance of the entire plant in a safe and efficient manner, assistance in emergency situations, emergency repairs, and performance of any other duties associated with the operation of a complex heating and chilling plant. Essential Knowledge And Abilities:

These positions require the ability to provide total operation and maintenance of the entire heating and chilling plant in a safe and efficient manner. Operate boilers and boiler controls; maintenance of heating and chilling plant equipment; start, operate, and shut down auxiliary equipment; and operate water chillers.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing using the English language.

  • Knowledge of emergency Heating and Chilling procedures and reactions.

  • Ability to communicate emergency situations with clarity.

  • Ability to learn and perform all essential functions safely while on shift, with little direct supervision after training.

  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate office equipment, hand tools, machinery, and maintenance equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and blueprints.
