The University of Wisconsin Parkside invites applications for the position of Intramural Coordinator/Sports Media Assistant in the Department of Athletics and the Department of Health, Exercise Science and Sport Management. The position shall be responsible for all program planning, website management, marketing and promotions, staffing and training, budget, equipment purchasing, supervision of all activities, assisting with game stats and loading video board equipment.

Due to the nature of this work, travel and evening and weekend work required. Extended hours, weekend event coverage and travel are expected with this position.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field

  • Previous collegiate experience in program development for recreational, student activities or coaching

  • Demonstrated excellence in administrative, written, interpersonal and computer skills

  • Must work evening and weekend hours

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in related field

  • At least 2 years collegiate experience in student activity programming

  • Previous experience in sports media field

  • Working knowledge of website maintenance

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Development and Implementation of Intramural and Recreational Programming

  1. Plan and develop programming each semester

  2. Market programs to campus

  3. Survey students to keep programs relevant

  4. Attend events and ensure compliance to rules, safety and risk management policies

  5. Order and inventory equipment

  6. Coordinate facility use

Staffing and Training Coordinate coverage, training, supervision and evaluation of student workers

  1. Coordinate payroll for all student workers

  2. Educate and train employees on Emergency Action Plans

Website Maintenance

  1. Manage and administer Intramural website

  2. Use web technology to achieve communication goals

Assistant Sports Media Assist in game stat keeping

  1. Load video board information

  2. Other duties as assigned

Essential Knolwedges, Skills and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of collegiate Intramural and Recreational programming.

  • Considerable knowledge and adherence to University, GLVC, NIRSA and NCAA Division II rules and guidelines.

  • Commitment to working effectively with a diverse student population.

  • Considerable proficiency with desktop publishing and website maintenance and design.

  • Working knowledge of copyright and other applicable laws pertaining to publications and website materials.

  • Excellent organizational skills which include, but are not limited to; successfully implementing short and long term goals, multi-tasking, managing deadlines and time management.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including but not limited to; speaking to large audiences, publishing to the web and creating written materials.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to exhibit professionalism at all times and be an exemplary representative of UW-Parkside.

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships within a diverse academic environment.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and troubleshoot and problem solve daily.

  • Ability to work outdoors or indoors, in hot and cold conditions.

  • Ability to travel.

  • Must have the ability to carry equipment up to 40 lbs.

  • Must be a certified driver and operate campus utility vehicles safely.
