Congratulations to Theatre Arts Professor Misti Bradford on being accepted into the United Scenic Artists, Local USA 829!

Local USA 829 is a labor union and professional association of Designers, Artists, and Craftspeople organized to protect craft standards, working conditions, and wages for entertainment and decorative arts industries. The members work in film, theatre, opera, ballet, commercials, and exhibitions. There are only 3800 members in the United States including scenic, costume, sound, lighting, and projections designers, so being chosen is a huge accomplishment. In order to apply for the union, you must be recommended by a current member and then give a juried portfolio presentation of professional theatre work spanning at least 6 years.

Misti Bradford has been working professionally in the theatre for over 15 years, 10 of which were in costume design. Over the course of her career, she has designed over 40 productions. Some of her favorites include: Les Miserables for the Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre, Ragtime for the Pacific Coast Conservatory of the Performing Arts, and Hamlet here at UW-Parkside. She is currently designing Macbeth for the Artistic Home Theatre Company in Chicago (opens Feb 21) and Man of LaMancha for the Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre (opens July 12).

Thanks for being Real.Amazing Misti!
