Every year, Parkside's Theatre Arts Department presents three staged readings for a program called the FreshInk Series. The goal of this is to present new plays and student written plays to audiences in a unique and comfortable setting. The performances are held in Studio A in The Rita to create an informal and intimate feeling. After each show, audience members are encouraged to stick around and chat with the cast and director about the performance. It's a great way to get an inside view of the rehearsal process and ask any questions you thought of during the show.

This particular FreshInk show is called Middletown, written by Will Eno and directed by teacher and professional Equity actor Matt Schwader. The play is a contemporary homage to Thornton Wilder's Our Town but with a lyrical and wacky twist. It focuses on the things in life that connect us to others and the things we must face alone.

Middletown performances are Oct 31 and Nov 1 at 7:30 pm and Nov 2 at 2 pm.
