COVID 19 Student FAQ 3-13-2020

These FAQs provide responses to a number of the questions that have been submitted to the Dean of Students Office.  We will continue to update this list as answers to additional questions are determined.

Will the May 16 Commencement Ceremony take place as scheduled?

Currently, the Commencement Ceremony is scheduled to take place as planned.  We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and follow national, state and local guidance.  If a decision is made to postpone Commencement, we will communicate that decision promptly.

Regardless of the status of the Commencement Ceremony, students who complete all graduation requirements by the end of the term will receive their diploma.

What are the dates of UW-Parkside’s Spring Break?

We have extended Spring Break by one week.  Classes are not in session from Monday, March 16, through Friday, March 27.

When and how will classes continue after Spring Break?

Classes will resume on Monday, March 30, via alternative delivery methods.  In most cases, this means online through the CANVAS learning management system.  You will receive information from your instructor via email.  And, we are developing a website of resources for your use.

For students in online programs (i.e. Online MBA, MAPS program, UW Flexible Option BSBA), you will receive separate information from your Program Director regarding the continuation of your programs.  If you have questions, please contact your Program Director directly.

Will students be charged the Online Fee for classes that are temporarily changing from face-to-face instruction.

No.

When will Face-to-Face classes resume?

We recognize that moving to alternative course delivery methods mid-semester is disruptive and not conducive to all learning styles.  Based on the information currently available, our goal is to return to face-to-face instruction as soon as possible, but not before April 10.  We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.

Will students be allowed to travel on university-sponsored trips?

All university-sponsored, non-essential travel has been cancelled through April 10.  This includes travel related to group Spring Break trips, study abroad trips, individual and group conference/workshop travel, and course related trips.

Will the Library be available to students?

The Library will remain open to students, faculty and staff.  Hours of operation will be posted on the Library’s webpage at https://www.uwp.edu/learn/library/.

Will the Sports & Activity Center (SAC) be open?

The SAC will be open to students, faculty and staff daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. until further notice.  No guest passes will be issued.

Will Dining Services be open during Spring Break?

The Brickstone Grill & Eatery will be open during Spring Break.
