UW-Parkside Hosts 8th Annual Parkside Day
Kenosha, WI –
The University of Wisconsin-Parkside is proud to announce the 8th annual Parkside Day on Wednesday, April 22, coinciding with Earth Day. Parkside Day is a 24-hour event that raises funds for the university while celebrating giving back and Ranger pride. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members are invited to participate in a day of service, celebration, and giving in support of UW-Parkside, with a variety of opportunities to get involved throughout the day.
Devon Borst, UW-Parkside’s Vice Chancellor for Advancement and University Relations explains the importance and excitement surrounding this particular Parkside Day. “Parkside Day is a chance for alumni, students, faculty, and community partners to come together to celebrate Parkside’s past, present, and future. Fellow Rangers, we have a lot to celebrate this year. UW-Parkside continues to advance through the work with university transformation, opening Parkside Works community partnership hub, advancing our scholarship offerings and launching the NCAA’s first scholarship funded women’s flag football team in Wisconsin. Join us April 22 to celebrate everything it means to be a Ranger!” Borst says.
Parkside Day activities kick off on Wednesday, April 22 with campus beautification, planting native plants near Wyllie Hall. Parkside Day has a goal of achieving 900 donors on the day. Throughout the day, there will be opportunities for challenges, matches, and power hours where donors can double their donation and maximize their impact. Keep an eye on social media throughout Parkside Day for these opportunities and special highlights connecting how volunteering on Parkside Day directly impacts students on campus.
Giving back through volunteering is a key part of Parkside Day. UW-Parkside invites faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community members to participate on April 22. Volunteer activities include native planting around campus, a bird collision window painting opportunity, and helping make thank you calls to donors. For the full schedule and list of opportunities visit the Parkside Day webpage.
Throughout Parkside Day, the campus community and public are encouraged to take part in challenges and activities that showcase UW-Parkside. The focal point of Parkside Day will be a series of fundraising challenges in support of the Future Focus Fund, UW-Parkside Foundation’s largest need-based student aid fund; Ranger Athletics; and other opportunities that directly enhance student learning and career readiness.
The community is also invited to join us for the Champions of Parkside Success Celebration Dinner on April 22 at 5:30 PM in the Student Center Ballroom. This special event will recognize the university’s donors, Chancellor’s Society members, Wyllie Society members, and student scholarship recipients.
