Canvas Student FAQ's

Will I have to login to both D2L and Canvas?

Logging in to Canvas will work the exact same way as logging in to D2L. You can find the Canvas and D2L login buttons on the UWP logins page, or by clicking the links below.

How will I know which courses are in D2L and Canvas?

You will be getting an email near the start of the semester with a list of courses that you are enrolled in that are set to be taught through Canvas, but if you miss that email or enroll late in the semester, feel free to check the running list of Winterim 2019 Canvas Courses.

It is very important to keep in mind that it is possible that you will have courses in both D2L and Canvas up until Fall 2019. Keep an eye on your Parkside email for notifications, check the list linked above, and when in doubt, verify with your instructor which system they will be using.

Is there training available for students?

Yes there is! Every Parkside student will have access to the Canvas Student Resources which is in Canvas. This is a full course full of tutorials and a very handy video walkthrough. To access this course, all you have to do is click on the following link and enroll in the course:
Once enrolled, the course will be added to your Canvas Course Dashboard.

On top of this Canvas Student Resources course, there is also Tier 1 Canvas support. This includes 24/7 access to Canvas support via online chat or by phone as well as the Canvas Guides. The Canvas Guides is a searchable knowledgebase that is home to thousands upon thousands of documents and tutorials on everything Canvas.

What can I do to prepare myself?

You can start to prepare for the transition by viewing the Student Guide in the Canvas Resources widget to the right as well as logging in to Canvas and viewing the interactive walkthrough in the Canvas Student Resources course! Also keep an eye on your email for the Innovations Newsletter which will keep you up to date with news on the transition.
