Teaching and Learning Center

The Teaching and Learning Center (T&LC) is located in WYLL 245 right next to the faculty/staff lounge.  We are dedicated   to the scholarship of teaching and learning and our motto is, Striving for Excellence. At the Teaching and Learning Center we want to facilitate the exchange of ideas between faculty members, especially in regards   to teaching methods, assessment, curriculum building and other related ideas. One effort toward that goal has been the development of Learning Communities; sub-groups of individuals who are working toward a common purpose. You are invited to become a part of the greater TLC community and share your experiences and expertise with us.

The T&LC is your connection to the Office of Professional Instructional Development (OPID). Established in 1977 OPID has been providing leadership in fostering the pursuit of effective and innovative teaching to enhance student learning and promote academic quality across  UW-System. Some of OPID's programs are: Faculty College, the Wisconsin Teaching Fellows & Scholars and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.

Although the TLC has multiple instructional resources, it is also intended to be a space where you can get away, relax, and ponder. We are developing a "technology free" zone with comfy chairs and plants, adjacent to the bookshelves. Many of the world's best ideas were hatched in a moment of reduced stress. Come in and unwind, check out our available resources, or bounce ideas off your colleagues.

We, at the Teaching and Learning Center, look forward to serving you in the years to come with an ever-expanding toolbox of services at your disposal. We hope that through an exchange of ideas and methods, combined with new technologies, we can all enrich the Parkside academic experience, which in a sense, if you love teaching, would provide "TLC" for both you and your students.
