Pharmacy Pre-requisites

The common science/math pre-requisite classes that are required by most Pharmacy programs include:

  1. One year of General Biology (BIOS 101 and 102 – 8 credits total)
  2. One year of General Chemistry (CHEM 101 and 102 – 10 credits total)
  3. One year of Organic Chemistry (CHEM 321, 322, and 323 – 11 credits total)
  4. One year of Physics (PHYS 105  and 106 – 10 credits total)
  5. One semester of Biochemistry (BIOS 307 – 3 credits)
  6. One semester of Anatomy (BIOS  300 – 4 credits)
  7. One semester of Physiology (BIOS 341 – 3 credits)
  8. One semester of Microbiology (BIOS 303 – 4 credits)
  9.  One semester of Statistics (BIOS 210 – 4 credits)
  10. One semester of Calculus (MATH 221)

Most professional Pharmacy programs also require a specific set of non-science course work.  The most common of these are:

  • One semester of Economics (ECON 120 – 3 credits)
  • One semester of Psychology (PSYC 101 – 3 credits)
  • One semester of Sociology (SOCA 101 – 3 credits)
  • One semester of Public Speaking (SPCH 105 – 3 credits)
  • One semester of Advanced Composition (ENGL 167 or ENGL 201 – 3 credits)
