Teacher Education and Professional Development

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside's Institute of Professional Educator Development (IPED) encompasses both Teacher Education and Professional Development. What this means to you is that our assistance begins when you decide "I want to be a teacher" and continues through the lifespan of your career.

The Teacher Education program is focused on creating a regional 21st-century learning community in southeastern Wisconsin for students who have the disposition and desire to teach in PK-12 classrooms. We are committed to providing "high-quality academic programs rooted in the tradition of a liberal education in the arts, sciences, and professions, responsive to the occupational, civic, and cultural needs of the region, and actively seek the continued input of all stakeholders" (UW-Parkside Mission, 2010).

Through Advanced Professional Development, we draw on current research and collaborative partnerships to support the personal and professional growth of current PK-12 educators to promote effective teaching and learning.
