The UW-Parkside ViolaFest 2016 is an inclusive one-day viola workshop and concert. Viola students of all grades, including college, and adults are welcome to participate in our workshop, observe master classes, play in a viola group and sit in educational presentations about the viola. The day concludes with a final performance of all groups and our guest artist as soloist.
This workshop is open to violists from 3 to 8 grade, high school students, college students, amateurs, professionals, teachers and viola enthusiasts.
Our guest clinician for the ViolaFest 2016 is Matthew Michelic viola professor at Lawrence University. The viola faculty are professor Alvaro Garcia, Darlene Rivest and Anne Marie Peterson.
The workshop are at UW-Parkside "The Rita" in the music wing. Sessions are held in rehearsal rooms D184, D164 and D-174. Concert will take place in Bedford Concert Hall. For direction click in the following link/map. Parking is available in Lot B.
The ViolaFest 2016 is on Saturday, January 30.
Registration starts at 9:30 am and the concert begins at 3:30 pm. See our day schedule below. Concert starts at 3:30 pm and will about one hour.

10:30 Beginning/Intermediate Rehearsal High School Master Class with guest soloist Teacher Panel Discussion
11:30 Beginning/Intermediate Techniques class High School Rehearsal Teachers observe/interact in Techniques class
12:30 Bag Lunch
1:30 Beginning/Intermediate Rehearsal Teachers and Soloists Rehearsal
2:30 Large Ensemble Rehearsal

Please download the registration form by following the link above. Early Registration costs are $40 if paid by January 8, 2016. After January 8, 2016, the cost will be $50. All registered participants will receive a commemorative Violafest 2016 T-Shirt! Please note that there will be no refunds. Minors will need to bring a parent consent form, available here.
Lunch will NOT be provided. Please bring all you need for lunch for the day. UW-Parkside cafeteria and subway station will be closed due to the winter break.
Viola participants will need to make sure to bring your own instrument and anything you need to play (shoulder rest, rosin, bow etc), Master class participants should bring a copy for the clinician of the music they are going to perform.
Teachers who bring 5 or more students will get a free admission to the workshop.
All family members accompanying student participants may stay in the workshop for no additional fee.
Master class are taught by our guest clinician (or viola faculty in case there are too many participants). Master class has a limited enrollment; to participate, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your name and title of work you intend to play.
