- About Us
The UW-Parkside Theatre Arts Department is committed to fair and unbiased casting procedures.
Casting of actors in roles is done on the basis of acting skill and ability demonstrated during the audition process, as well as on the actor’s appropriateness and suitability (physical, vocal, mental, emotional) for available roles.
We are committed to providing equal opportunity and nondiscrimination in all aspects of our academic and production programming. Except in plays were race or gender is an issue, casting is decided on the basis of ability.
Casting priority is given to enrolled UW-Parkside students who are in good academic standing. Students must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA in order to work on departmental productions in any capacity other than required course work. Non-student members of the community may audition for productions, however, priority will be given to casting qualified, appropriate students.
In compliance with university insurance and registration policies, all actors cast in UW-Parkside productions (including non-students) MUST register for acting practicum credits (THEA 014, 214, 314 as determined by the director). Registration for these acting practicum credits must occur within the timelines announced by the director. In exceptional cases actors may audit acting practicum (with the permission of the director) but must pay all corresponding fees.
