Biography
I have been part of the UWP Dept of Economics for more than 30 years. I remain active in teaching, research, and service. I have been awarded the Stella C. Gray Teaching Excellence Award three times, one of only two UWP faculty to have earned this award three times; named the UWP nominee for the UW-System Regents Teaching Excellence Award five times; and my work as director of the UWP Center for Economic Education has been honored by the National Council of Economic Education and the National Association of Economic Educators. Currently boasting more than 1,600 season ticket holders, I created the UWP Foreign Film Series in 1982 and have been its director since its inception. In 2004, I was honored with the UW-Parkside Faculty Distinguished Service Award, and named a Wisconsin Idea Fellow by UW-System Board of Regents.
Teaching, Research/Creative & Consulting Interests

Teaching Interests

Most recently my teaching portfolio consists of: ECON 101, The American Economy; ECON 305, The Economics of Sports; ECON 380, The Labor Market; and ECON 409, Econometrics. Other courses I have taught: Microeconomic Principles; Macroeconomic Principles; Managerial Economics (graduate and undergraduate levels); Urban Problems; and The Economics of Discrimination and Inequality. Finally, I have taught online graduate level courses (Sports Economics, and Environmental Economics) targeted at middle school and high school teachers seeking professional development.

Research Interests

I have published in the following areas: the economics of residential segregation by race; urban income distribution; intra-racial income distribution; economic impacts of environmental negative externalities on property values; economic growth centers; and economics pedagogy. My current research interests are in the environmental economics of brownfields, economic impact analysis, economics pedagogy, and labor relations in Major League Baseball.

Consulting Interests

I have consulted (paid and unpaid) in the following areas: local labor market conditions; environmental impact analysis; economic development plans; and economic loss estimates in wrongful death and injury litigation.
