Asian Studies

Asian Studies Minor

Asian studies is an interdisciplinary program that enables students to study many countries and regions of Asia. Asian studies is relevant to all students seeking a deeper understanding of Asian culture, history, and philosophy.

The Asian studies minor supports Parkside initiatives involving Asian culture, history, and music, as well as study abroad programs to Asia in conjunction with the Center for International Studies.

An Asian studies minor complements many academic pursuits and prepares students for an increasingly globalized world in which all regions and nations of Asia play a major and growing role.

Graduates from Asian studies may go on to live and work in Asia, pursue careers in the American Foreign Service, business partnerships in Asia, teacher education, or professional degree programs. Further potential career paths include tourism, diplomatic service, government agencies, and employment with non-governmental organizations.
