Internships
Value of Internships

Internships help you put your education to use in a professional setting. They allow students to apply the concepts and theories they learn while engaging with industry professionals.  Many students look at internships as a way to confirm their interest in a given field or discipline.

We Can Help you Pursue Internships
At Parkside, there are a variety of ways that you may discover internship opportunities, including internship fairs and postings on RangerTrak, and also recommendations from peers, from advisors and from faculty.

Intern Connections Program

The Advising and Career Center is excited to offer Intern Connections! With Intern Connections, you will integrate academic studies with professional work experience in an internship or experiential opportunity. 

Academic Credit for Internships

Students may have the option to earn academic credit to supplement their internship experience. Students should consult the Academic Catalog and review necessary steps with an advisor or faculty member.

    The Parkside community has access to hundreds of quick videos on a variety of career related topics, including internships. No matter where you are or what time it is, you can watch videos to gain insight from industry professionals, career service experts, and students from Universities across the country.

    RangerTrak: Opportunity Board

    Did you know that employers use RangerTrak to post their full-time opportunities and that many employers do so because they are interested in Parkside graduates specifically? In fact, the majority of positions listed on RangerTrak require a degree, making this an ideal resource to begin you search for post-graduation employment.

    Job Boards

    Although many positions are filled as a result of a human interaction, it can be helpful to explore various job boards for openings. There are also job boards that are specific to certain industries or sectors. We've compiled a list for you to use as a jumping off point.

      Graduate School Admission Tests

      Different programs require different admissions exams and some programs do not require any. We've compiled a list of the most common exams. Working with an advisor at Parkside and reviewing information from the institution that offers your program of choice will clarify which test is next for you.

      Personal Statements

      If requested by graduate/professional schools, a personal statement is usually highly valued and may be used to determine your acceptance, especially in borderline cases. You'll want to make sure yours is polished and professional.
