University business is considered completing tasks or work on behalf of the university, examples include:
If a student is required to move in prior to the pre-scheduled published move-in date, the student's supervisor, student organization advisor, or coach must submit a written request to firstname.lastname@example.org and provide a copy of the student's scheduled work or volunteer hours. All requests will be reviewed and/or approved by the Director of Residence Life.
After approval, students will be directed to a website to complete their request. If a student receives approval to move in early, the Director of Residence Life will advise the student regarding what day/time the student may move in. Generally, students must move in during regularly scheduled business hours, Monday-Friday 8 AM-4:30 PM. Students moving in early will be charged $50.00 per week. Charges will be billed from Sunday to Saturday.Any student that occupancies a residence hall room after Sunday of a given week will be charged $50.00 for the full week. Rates will not be prorated.
Depending on availability, students may not be able to move into their permanent fall assignment. The charge will be applied even if a student moves personal belongings into a room and departs campus. The charge will not be waived. The weekly charge is in effect from August 10, 2014 until a student's designated move-in day which is August 31, 2014 for new students and September 2, 2014 for returning students. No students will be permitted to move into the residence halls on August 30, 2014 to allow Residence Life staff time to finalize opening preparations.
This Early Arrival Policy includes pre-season students such as student athletes, student organization members, and University student employees who are training and/or working prior to Move In Day, International Students, and students who have contracted with University Housing for the interim period between summer and fall semesters who have a contract for fall.
