- Majors: Marketing and Business Management with certificates in Sales, Entrepreneurship, and Project Management
What is your current job?
Currently I am a Credit Analyst at Johnson Bank.
In what ways did Parkside help you prepare for this job?
Parkside assisted me in a number of ways. The flexibility in the degree's offered and the certificates was invaluable in helping me develop relevant course experience to pursue a career in Banking Services. Furthermore, the opportunities to work closely with facility on various projects provided great networking opportunities. Being a CBEC Intern myself at one time, I gained exposure with key decision makers on campus that ultimately led to introductions in the community. The introduction wasn't enough though to secure my position though. The course work as well as the number of student organizations I was a part of (Student Government, PAMA, PAC, SOC, etc.) gave me an edge over other candidates.
What would be your advice to students at UW-Parkside currently pursuing a CBEC degree?
Get involved!!! Only so much learning happens in the classroom. Join a student org, commit to community service, join Y-link or YPR (Young Leaders in Kenosha or Young Professionals of Racine). Use the skills and knowledge you get in class and apply it while you're still in college. The one thing I hear from business and community leaders is how motivated and driven students are from UW-Parkside. It is because so many go to school, work, and apply that knowledge outside the classroom. I encourage you to keep that tradition alive.
