The UW-Parkside Distinguished Alumni Awards celebrates and honors the rich legacy of learning and accomplihsments by those graduates who have excelled in their chosen field or performed exemplary service to our community.
Each year the awards program recognizes two alumni from each of the university's four colleges in the categories of achievement and service. Both awards are a reflection of UW-Parkside and provide inspiration and encouragement for current students.
UW-Parkside, in association with the UW-Parkside Alumni Association, is now accepting nominations for the 2018 Distinguished Alumni Awards. Nominations will be accepted year-round, with a prioirty date of February 16, 2018 to be guaranteed consideration.
To be eligible for an alumni award nomination, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Achievement Award- the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award is given to graduates who have excelled in their professions. Nominees are evaluated on several factors, including evidence of growth in their profession, a commitment to excellence and lifelong learning, and positions of leadership in professional societies and organizations. Questions that will be considered when choosing this award can be found here.
Service Award- the Distinguished Alumni Service Award is presented to individuals who demonstrate outstanding and significant contributions to the community and/or UW-Parkside. Nominees are evaluated on the breadth of their volunteer and service work, its sustainability over time, and the leadership roles they’ve taken to further impact UW-Parkside and their community. Nominations are now being accepted year-round. However, nominations for 2018 should be submitted no later than February 16, 2018 for guaranteed review. Any nominations submitted after February 16 may be reviewed for the 2019 awards.
Submitting Your Nomination
When submitting a nomination, follow these guidelines:
If you are interested in nominating an alum but do not have access to the required additional materials, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 262-595-2404.
Each college has a selection committee who reviews nominations within their college. The committees may be comprised of the college dean, advisory board members, UW-Parkside Alumni Association board members, and faculty and staff. “At large” participants are often asked to join a selection committee at the dean’s request. The selection committee reserves the right to grant an award for which the candidate has not been nominated.
Selections will be made in March.
The selection committee will keep candidates on the active consideration list for three years. Nominators are welcome to submit additional information for candidates not selected in a given year.
