UW-Parkside Hosts 6th Annual Parkside Day

Published: March 21, 2024

Parkside Day Kenosha, Wis.-  The University of Wisconsin-Parkside is excited to announce the 6th annual Parkside Day, presented by HARIBO of America, on Wednesday, April 10. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members are invited to participate in this day of service, celebration, and giving in support of UW-Parkside. There will be various opportunities to get involved throughout the day.

Parkside Day is a 24-hour event that raises funds for the university and celebrates UW-Parkside Ranger pride. Over Parkside Day’s first five years, 5,558 individuals have participated; 3,479 donors have generously given over $770,000; and 834 volunteers have given 1,205 hours of their time. With a great deal of generous support, Parkside Day has grown 982% in its lifetime.

“I am so excited to experience and contribute to my first Parkside Day! We are so grateful to the community for their extraordinary support of Parkside Day since its inception in 2019, and we are pleased to engage and celebrate with the community again this year,” says Maris Dishno, UW-Parkside Director of Donor and Alumni Engagement. “The funds and engagement generated on Parkside Day positively impact so many UW-Parkside students. I can’t wait to be a part of this exhilarating day and see how we can support our students together this year!”

Parkside Day activities will begin on Wednesday, April 10 with Modnight Madness, during which the first 10 donors will receive a free coupon for pizza from Mod Pizza. Parkside Day has a goal of achieving 1,000 donors on the day. Throughout April 10, there will be opportunities for challenges, matches, and power hours where donors can double their donations. Keep an eye on social media for special highlights connecting the volunteering happening on Parkside Day directly to the funds that will benefit students on campus.

Volunteerism is another core component of Parkside Day. UW-Parkside would like to encourage participants to donate to the Sharing Shelves Food Drive during Parkside Day and the week leading up to it. There will also be a drive-up donation drop-off opportunity on April 10 from 3-6 p.m. outside of the Student Center. Community members can donate canned goods to help combat food insecurity on campus.

Rangers Give Back Volunteerism activities will continue Wednesday, April 10 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. with outdoor clean-up volunteer sessions. There will also be a bird collision window painting opportunity to help prevent birds from running into windows around campus.

Throughout the day, the campus community and members of the public are invited to participate in challenges and activities that highlight UW-Parkside. The centerpiece of Parkside Day’s activities will be giving challenges to raise funds in support of the Future Focus Fund, UW-Parkside Foundation’s largest need-based student aid fund; Ranger Athletics; and other opportunities that directly benefit student learning and career preparation at UW-Parkside.

Alumni are also encouraged to visit campus during the Ranger Reunion, sponsored by the UW-Parkside Alumni Association, at 5:30 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom on April 10. Alumni are invited to celebrate Parkside Day, network with fellow alumni and meet new Chancellor Lynn Akey.
