The mission of the Advising and Career Center is to provide a high quality student-centered advising experience that promotes and empowers the educational, career, and personal development of each students they enter a diverse world.
When you become a Parkside student, you are assigned an advisor in the Advising and Career Center who will help you pick classes and explore different majors. They can also help you find minors, certificates, internships, jobs, and so much more. These advisors are experts in the whole college experience.
When you declare your major, you will be assigned a faculty advisor to help you pick classes that dig deeper into your major and explore opportunities that will take you beyond the classroom. These advisors are experts in your field.
You'll definitely want to meet with your advisor at least twice a semester to talk about how things are going and to plan ahead. All of it will help you progress towards graduation and beyond.
HOW DO I FIND OUT WHO MY ADVISOR IS?
Check your SOLAR. Your advisors are listed in a box in the lower right hand corner. If you click on "details" you will be able to see their contact information. Having problems and need help? Call the Advising and Career Center at 262-595-2040.
WHAT HAPPENS IN AN ADVISING APPOINTMENT?
In an advising appointment, you'll ask questions. You'll also answer questions. Together, you and your advisor will talk about your current semester and what your next semesters might look like. You'll talk about how all the pieces are fitting together. You'll talk about life after college. And you'll talk about whatever else is on your mind.
