Students and faculty from the University of Wisconsin–Parkside were sent to represent the university on an international stage. On September 16, a delegation of talented student musicians and faculty traveled to Wolfenbüttel, Germany, to perform at the city’s bi-annual Kulturnacht.
The invitation came directly from the Kenosha/Wolfenbüttel Sister-City Organization, providing UW–Parkside Jazz the opportunity to deliver a featured performance.

The premier home for these programs, the Rita Tallent Picken Regional Center for the Arts and Humanities (affectionately known as “The Rita”), stands as a testament to the generosity of the late Kathleen “Kitty” Picken.
Kitty, who passed away three years ago, was the stepdaughter of Rita Tallent Picken. Believing that her stepmother and fellow adventurer deserved a lasting tribute at UW–Parkside, Kitty made a transformational $3.7 million gift to endow the arts and humanities programs and name the facility in Rita’s honor. Her commitment to spurring creativity, education, and artistic opportunity continues to enrich the lives of UW–Parkside students today as they carry their talents to audiences both locally and around the globe.
