Economics Minor

Parkside's economics program provides you an opportunity to learn the principles and methods of economics and their application to real-world problems.

Develop a core understanding of economics that will complement your primary field of study, whether it's biology, communication, environmental studies, history, geography, political science, or business.

A minor in economics is valuable and marketable because it demonstrates a basic knowledge of the economy and the ability to apply economic analysis to economic phenomena and problems.

Some of the courses you will be taking


Principles of Microeconomics

Develops and applies principles and models of demand and supply, consumer behavior, producer behavior, competitive and imperfectly competitive markets, and related contemporary economic policy issues.

Principles of Macroeconomics

Develops and applies principles and models of economic aggregates such as national income, unemployment, inflation, economic growth, and the monetary system and analyzes monetary and fiscal policy.

Graduates with a bachelor’s degree in economics are employed in a wide variety of jobs in both the private and public sectors of the economy. Recent economics graduates have obtained positions at Snap-On Tools, Komatsu, Modine Manufacturing, Humana Healthcare, US Bank, Northwestern Mutual, Educators Credit Union, Case-New Holland, Hewitt Associates, the U.S. Veteran’s Administration, Prudential Financial, Runzheimer International, and Johnson Bank.

The Economics Club is an academically oriented organization which gives students a means to discuss and utilize economic subject matter, learn from guest lecturers already in economically related fields, and gain insights of finding employment. Learn more about Student Organizations.
