Student Emergency Relief Funding Report

1. UW Parkside has signed agreements to receive funding under the following grant programs which requires commitment to at least 50% of funding be provided to students via emergency grants:
- Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Under section 18004(a)(1)
- Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act.
- Higher Education Emergency Relief (HEERF) funding under the American Rescue Act (ARA)
2. Funding for the programs are as follows:
- CARES: $1,890,973

3. As of April 6, 2023 has disbursed $9,337,375 in Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
- CARES: Full allocation, $1,890,973 has been disbursed

4. As of April 6, 2023, under Section 484 of Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (as amended), UW-Parkside has significant students who meet the various eligibility requirements of each program:

6. Methodology for qualifying for the various programs were:
Lump payouts ranging from $800-$3000 based on FAFSA completion and need. Funding was to assist with personal expenses including technology, food, housing, educational materials.
Students also had the option to complete an application for emergency aid. This application would allow the option to ‘opt in’ to use funding for tuition (for CRRSA and HEERF programs only). Applications were reviewed by the Financial Aid office, and funding was awarded based on requested needs and amounts of requests.
7. Instructions for applying for emergency grants were provided on the UW Parkside website as well as in the application. Students who were awarded a lump payout or granted funding via the emergency aid application were given additional instructions in the notices sent with their grant offer to explain disbursement processing and refunding. Students were encouraged to contact the Cashier’s Office if additional instruction or assistance was needed for refunding preferences.
