EDUCATOR PREPARATION PROGRAM REPORTS
Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Annual Program Report
In 2011, The Wisconsin State Legislature passed Act 166, which requires the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) to produce an annual report of the State’s educator preparation programs (EPP). The report must include information on program completers and first time passage rates on the state required performance assessments.
The first report, 2013 Educator Preparation Program (EPP) Annual Report, provides information on candidates who completed a Wisconsin EPP between September 1, 2011 and August 31, 2012 and were endorsed for Wisconsin licensure. It also provides valuable information on completers who applied for Wisconsin licensure. The employment data in the DPI annual report only includes licensed completers who were hired by public schools in Wisconsin.
The Praxis Subject Assessments (formerly Praxis II), administered by the Education Testing Services (ETS), are required assessments for teachers in all subjects (except for world languages) who apply for Wisconsin licensure. This report includes information on candidates’ first-time and overall Praxis Subject Assessments pass rates as well as other performance data.
Educator Preparation Program Reports
Title II of the Higher Education Act mandates the Teacher Education programs collect data on state assessments, other requirements, and standards for teacher certification and licensure, as well as data on the performance of teacher preparation programs. This data has been used for an annual report by the state on the quality of teacher preparation, which began in April 2002.
