Post-baccalaureate Licensure

UW-Parkside has a pathway for you if you are considering a career change or are currently teaching on an emergency license. Your educational practice and theory classes will be offered through Parkside. When you meet with a program administrator here at Parkside, we will ask that you provide unofficial transcripts and other relevant documentation upon request.

If you are seeking post-baccalaureate licensure in elementary education, secondary education, or special education, want to add on a license in ESL or Bilingual-Bicultural Education, or have a general inquiry regarding teacher licensure, please email us at teachereducation@uwp.edu.

Elementary And Secondary Education Licensure Program

Educator Preparation licensure programs are approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI). These programs meet the requirements of Wisconsin’s PI34 rules for Teacher Education Program Approval and Licenses.

The following licensure programs are available through the Institute:

Elementary and Middle School (Grades K-9)

Elementary and Middle School license for teaching grades K-9. Must complete an assessment of content knowledge and pass the Foundations of Reading Test.

Secondary Education

Secondary major for teaching grades K-12 or 4-12. Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following content majors:

  • English/Language Arts (Grades 4-12)
  • Mathematics (Grade 4-12)
  • Art (Grades K-12)
  • Music (Grades K-12)
  • Special Education (Grades K-12)
