English as a Second Language

English As A Second Language Information

The English as a Second Language (ESL) minor leads to licensure in Wisconsin at the level of the underlying teaching license. Teacher candidates wishing to earn an ESL license must already have a provisional license or be in the process of obtaining one. The ESL minor can satisfy the minor requirement for the Elementary Education major (MC-EA license) OR can be added on to any other licensable area.

The Educator Preparation licensure programs are approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI). These programs meet the requirements of Wisconsin’s PI34 rules for Teacher Education Program Approval and Licenses.
