Position Title: Academic & Career Advisor
We are searching for one position:
- Academic & Career Advisor in the College of Natural & Health Sciences (CNHS)
Employment Type: Full-time, exempt, Non-Instructional Academic Staff
Pay Range: $40,000 - $47,000
Essential Job Functions
Professional Academic & Career Advisors are positioned in the Advising & Career Center and in each of the four academic colleges to provide high quality academic advising and career development assistance to active UW-Parkside students, transfer students, and prospective students. Academic & Career Advisors will assist students in transitioning to the University, assessing academic skills, and exploring academic and career options, and will partner with advisees to develop individualized plans for academic success. Each Academic & Career Advisor partners with specific academic departments, developing collaborative relationships with faculty and staff to best serve students pursuing degrees within the Academic Advisor’s area of responsibility. Academic & Career Advisors are instrumental in fostering an inclusive and engaged campus community in support of academic excellence and student success.
The CNHS Academic & Career Advisor will work with a team of two other Academic & Career Advisors in the College focusing on providing academic advising and career development support for declared majors, sophomores and above, and students transferring into the university. Additionally, the CNHS Academic & Career Advisors assist students with the exploration, preparation, and application process for graduate and professional programs.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will minimally possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education; Master’s degree preferred.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in academic and/or career advising in a higher education setting. Preference for the position may be given to candidates with experience advising majors in the sciences.
- Experience with an electronic student information, student advising platform, and/or a job placement system
Salary and Benefits
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
