Position Title: Event & Operations Graduate Assistant

Employment Type: Part-time, Academic Staff, Exempt

Reports To: Assistant Director of Athletics for Events & Operations.

The successful candidates will work a 10-month appointment for the 2022-23 academic year with the opportunity for renewal of a second year. Each graduate assistant will receive a full tuition waiver and an annual stipend of $7,500, paid monthly. These positions will remain open until filled. Anticipated start date for the positions will be August 1, with the potential for a mutually-agreed upon earlier start date and summer employment.

The coaching graduate assistants will also serve as an instructor for one activity class for the Health, Kinesiology, and Sport Management department (HKSM). To be eligible, students must be admitted to the in-person Master of Sport Management Program (MSSM) at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Appointments are contingent upon maintenance of minimum credit requirements and good standing in the MSSM program.

Parkside Athletics and HKSM have collaborated on the graduate assistant program for four years, fostering success for the athletics department, sport management program, and, most importantly, the graduate students. Alumni of the program have gone onto successful careers in college athletics and in club/youth and professional sports, including North Dakota State, Indiana State, Colorado College, Stephen F. Austin, UW-Parkside, University of Illinois-Chicago, and Quincy.


Essential Job Functions

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for the position of Events & Operations Graduate Assistant. To be eligible, prospective candidates must be accepted into one of the Master’s Degree programs at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The Event & Operations Graduate Assistant will report directly to the Assistant Director of Athletics for Events & Operations, and will gain experience assisting with all aspects of a NCAA Division II athletic department.

Key Job Responsibilities

The events and operations graduate assistants will work in conjunction with the Assistant AD for Events and Operations, with duties including but not limited to assisting with:

•         Coordination of gameday operations for Parkside Athletics home events.

• Serving as a gameday host for visiting teams and officials.

• Operations of concessions and the Ranger Store, the athletics gameday apparel store.

• Ticketing operations, including maintaining compliance with NCAA pass list requirements.

• Hiring, training, and supervising gameday event staff.

• Planning and execution of external rentals.

• Deposits, cash handling, and financial reporting.

• Fulfilling payment to referees, officials, and gameday staff.

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Candidates must possess excellent written and verbal skills  
  • The ability to exhibit professionalism and maintain confidentiality 
  • Candidate must possess strong customer service, and problem solving skills 
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment  
  • Competency with Microsoft Office Suite  
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign is preferred
