SOMERS – Earlier this month, Discover Accounting released its “Top 101 most Affordable Accounting Programs” list, providing a comprehensive ranking of the most affordable accounting degrees programs out of the nearly 2500 college and universities that offer accounting degrees in the U.S. The ranking also factors in graduation rates, accessibility, and the average salary of graduates. University of Wisconsin-Parkside’s Accounting Program is ranked at #65.

“UW-Parkside accounting students are blessed with award winning faculty members and opportunities for internships at regional companies,” said Dirk Baldwin, Dean of the College of Business, Economics, and Computing at UW-Parkside, touting the strengths of the program. “Our students are well prepared for the CPA and enter into public, private, and government accounting positions. This ranking shows that you can start an outstanding career at an affordable cost at UW-Parkside.”

UW-Parkside Accounting Professor and Director of Global Education Zhemin “Jamie” Wang has led the way for the department, highlighting three reasons why Parkside’s program is particularly renowned. First, all classes are taught by dedicated faculty, rather than graduate assistants. Second, UW-Parkside’s Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation guarantees the quality of business education at the College of Business, Economics, and Computing. Third, Parkside’s hardworking students.

“I find I’ve always been blessed with the smartest and hardest working students in my accounting classes over the last 22 years,” said Wang.

With an attractive average starting salary for graduates, affordable tuition costs, and high graduation and retention rates, University of Wisconsin-Parkside is a compelling choice. UW-Parkside’s AACSB International accredited business school offers the resources for students to pursue careers in accounting or financial management. Additionally, graduates are prepared to continue their education with a master’s degree in accounting, an MBA, or to continue on to professional certification preparations.
