Natural Products Lab
The Natural Products Lab, at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, offers growers the opportunity to test canna chemical levels at a convenient location in Southeastern Wisconsin.
Highlights
- UW-Parkside worked closely with Wisconsin’s Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) to set up our methodology.
- Our lab uses duplicate sampling, controls, spike-and-recovery analyses, and method blanks to ensure accurate results.
- Our lab can test plant materials, oils, extracts, and other CBD based products.
- Analysis is completed using liquid chromatography with photodiode array detection.
- Students are engaged in all facets of the laboratory’s operation.

The Natural Products Lab at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside is conveniently located along the corridor between Milwaukee and Chicago.
Basic Package
Our basic package includes CBD, CBDA, d9-THC, THCA and CBN.
We can test for additional cannabinoids upon request.

Turnaround Time
Our pledge is 7-10 calendar days, but often return a result in 3-4 days. The timing depends on the required pretreatment for the sample.
Feedback Process
Your opinion is important to us. We receive feedback via the “Service Feedback” link where your answers to a brief series of questions will help us understand the nature of your feedback. The process includes:
- A ranking of your satisfaction, on a scale of 0 to 5, in the areas of sample submission, quality of report, sample turnaround time, and staff knowledge and friendliness.
- An opportunity to provide comments through an open text box.
- An opportunity to file a complaint.
If you are filing a complaint, the next page asks you to share how we failed to meet your expectations. You are then invited to share contact information (name and company name) if you want to be kept informed of the process.
The Process: Feedback is sent to a representative of the University who is not directly tied to laboratory operations. This person acts as a liaison between complainants and the NP Laboratory to ensure confidentiality, to keep complainants informed of the process, and to work with the NP Laboratory Management to investigate the complaint. We intend to investigate complaints within 10 calendar days of receipt, and for the investigation to require no more than 5 business days. In most instances, the complainant is informed of the outcome of the investigation.
Service Feedback and Complaints are further reviewed during management reviews which occur annually.
