Amber Handy serves as the Associate Vice Provost and director of the Center for Excellence in Inclusive Teaching & Learning at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. She previously served as associate professor of history and the founding director of the Kossen Center for Teaching & Learning at Mississippi University for Women, where as a Wisconsin native she never fully acclimated to the Mississippi summers.
Dr. Handy has extensive experience supporting an ethnically, culturally, and socio-economically diverse student body as both a faculty member and administrator, and has extended her work beyond campus by presenting and writing on active learning and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. She holds a Ph.D. in History with a doctoral minor in Gender Studies from the University of Notre Dame, an M.Phil. in Medieval History from Trinity College, Dublin, and a B.A. in Medieval Studies from Mount Holyoke College.

History from antiquity through the medieval period; gender history; cultural history.
