Audit A Course

A course audit is allowed on a space-available basis and with instructor consent. Here’s what you need to know.

What does auditing a course mean?

Auditing means that you attend a course but you will not receive credit in the course, are not given regular grades, and do not have such courses counted as part of your credit load for determining full-time or part-time status or eligibility for financial aid, athletics, or insurance purposes.

Who can audit a course?

Only Parkside Students can audit a course.

Current degree seeking students may audit a course, generally in consultation with an advisor.

step 1

Apply to Parkside as an Auditor and Activate your Accounts Skip to Step 3 if you are already a Parkside student!

Apply to Parkside as an undergraduate non-degree seeking Auditor using the UW System application.

Through the admission process, you’ll receive an email with instructions to activate Okta (a Multifactor Authentication application), RangerMail (official campus email) and SOLAR (campus student information system), plus any additional steps.

Step 2

Accept Terms and Conditions

HOW TO COMPLETE
Students complete the Terms & Conditions agreement in their SOLAR account

  • Log in to SOLAR
  • Select the Tasks tile
  • In the To Do List click Terms and Conditions
  • Read through Terms and Conditions, click Accept, click Save, click Next
  • Indicate your marital status, click Submit, click Next
  • Click Finish.

After you click Finish, your Terms and Conditions Registration hold will be removed from your SOLAR account so that the Registrar’s Office can enroll you into the classes you will submit to them. For a step-by-step visual guide on How to accept Terms and Conditions in SOLAR.

step3

Submit the Request to Audit a Course Form

Using the Audit a Course Form link, choose the Request to Audit a Course form and be sure to use your RangerMail in the request. When the form arrives to your RangerMail, complete and submit it following the instructions on the form.

View the online Course Schedule to find course details, including the instructor’s name. The campus Directory can be used to find contact information for the instructor, as you’ll need their signature on the Request to Audit a Course form. Return the completed form to the Office of the Registrar.

Registration for audits cannot be done using SOLAR. An email notification will be sent to your RangerMail.

step4

Resources

See the Concierge Desk in the Student Center to obtain a Ranger Card. Your Ranger Card serves both as your official university ID and as a tool to pay for services on campus such as dining, vending, and printing.

Visit the UW-Parkside Campus Police department to buy a parking permit.

Contact the Tech Bar at 262-595-2444 if you can’t log into your SOLAR, RangerMail, or Canvas pages.

Audit-only students have access to the library and can add funds to a RangerCard.
